Officially Old
Re: Officially Old
I recognized every single photo immediately.
Most brought back fond memories.
I still have a View Master viewer and a Winnie the Pooh view disk.
Had a buddy who owned a Dodge Polara (I believe that's what it was) with a push button transmission.
Age is mostly a matter of mind.
If you don't mind, it doesn't matter!
Remember, 60 is not old...
...if you're a tree!

If you have a conversation with yourself and forget who you were talking to. Yep brings back memories. I'd like to have that old dining table and chairs

Re: Officially Old
I recognized every one of those pics and used almost everything except for the push button tranny. My Dad's mother had that table and chairs in green. I remember eating with them and playing Monopoly on hot summer days with plenty Nestea to drink. Good times indeed.

I had a 1960 Plymouth with a push button tranny and a 318 V8. It was a four door and our
family car while I was in the Army. Loved it.

Re: Officially Old
Yep every one of them. But some of them are still new fangled doohickeys. The gas station sign is way too modern. I pumped gas at 27 cents a gallon. Learned some pretty good cuss words from customers when the price jumped to 30 cents.
Load on Sunday and Shoot all Week.......okay it's a Mare's Leg I will reload on Wednesday.
Re: Officially Old
Took my drivers license test in a Dodge with push button transmission. And I remember gas wars where it would get down to 20 cents a gallon. Yep, I am old.

Re: Officially Old
I remember, sadly, when the old pumps had to have a 2 x sign placed in front of the price. The station my father went to had a grease pit, not a lift. The man had a coke machine where you pulled out the bottles. Charles Chips were delivered in tins and we would get a handful every trip. He wrote out the bill by hand. When someone came in for gas, they ran over a rubber line that rang a bell in the garage. He'd put down what he was doing and go fill up their car. He stopped selling gas when they said he'd have to dig up the tanks and put in new pumps. I went there for repairs too, until he retired.
Later on in life, I found a place that reminded me of that place. An independent garage that sold gas and did repairs. I went there for 25+ years until he retired too. Now I go to a place where a brother and sister run a shop. The brother does the repairs and the sister does the front end and the books. They should outlive me, so I'm probably set, lol.
