It’s from the family of the Moth’s in the Silence of the Lambs movie.
They are about 2.5”-3” long and wide. It was a big bug and they are native to North America.

That was my first thought when I saw it. Maybe not Batman himself but at first glance I thought the markings on the body where the wings join was the face of a bat. Ugly and beautiful at the same time.

I had a similar one at my house two times last year. It was about 3” across the wings. Very cool bugs!
