Unbelievable. I don’t know if I could ever shoot anything like that ever again.

That thread on breech cap..? I don't believe I'd care to shoot that rifle. It just seems..
spindly. I'm glad he lived and isn't blinded or maimed.

Re: When things go horribly wrong!!!!
I watched this video when it was posted a day or two ago on our woodworking thread. My comment then was the same. He had God on his shoulder, no doubt. But, the other things that saved his life were:
Neither he nor his dad panicked.
Both reacted immediately.
They knew what to do, and more importantly, that they had to do something.
He called 911 enroute, so the ambulance met them halfway.
The hospital was prepped and ready.
Medflight.
Huge dose of luck.
Big credit to him for not immediately talking about suing. Not the fault of the gun. He talked, calmly, with them. I had a catastrophic failure, (commonly known as a kaboom,) years ago. Mine was caused by a compressed load. The bullet was set back in the case when I had a double feed. I cleared the failure, reloaded the rounds, BOOM.
The gun's design, safety glasses, and luck kept me from serious injury. The gun failed, but it failed in a controlled manner, if that makes sense?
I didn't scream lawsuit. I talked calmly, with the firearms company, worked with my local gunsmith, fellow shooters to figure out what happened. We solved the mystery.
I never reload rounds that jam against the feed ramp these days.
Not worth the risk.

You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.
I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.

Well, I think he's learned a lesson about buying surplus ammo. Glad he's alive and on the mend. Holy Moly!
