Frontier .50 cal, April 11th

Had the range to myself again this morning. 20F and no wind at all which is rare and much appreciated.

Pedersoli Frontier .50 cal, .490 lead ball, 55 grains of Triple 7 2F, .015 patch....factory primitive iron sights. All shooting off hand standing except the 200 yd shot 1 knee style....

The zero wind makes a HUGE difference shooting off hand!

What size is that 200 yd. target Mr. Eagle Eye? Just fantastic shooting from you again RR ! When does Spring temps arrive up there? 77 degrees here today!

That’s a 10” circle on that 200 yd. New splash targets I picked up. I can see the yellow paper better than others at a distance. We had snow overnight but it disappears quick during the day now.

Wow, thanks very much, I believe I shoot this rifle better than any others I have for some reason. Long barrel maybe. Glad I went back to the original rear sight and filed down the front one. The Skinner ladder sight was fun too but I felt like I was cheating....

Glad you got a nice day to shoot without those horrific winds. When I had my Frontier, I knew right away it was a terrific shooter. I should have stayed with it and not sold it. Doubt I could match what you have been able to do, even if I had the strength to to shoulder it for more than a few shots (which I didn't). My problem has always been too many guns to shoot. You're really on to something with keeping it simple. Yes, I totally agree, you are in a class of your own, cowboy.

I need to aim higher....you can follow the trail to the bottom half of the targets as my arm gets tired....haha.

That's actually something that happens to me quite my offhand shooting. When I get tired, my POI starts to drop, little by little. It's a sign that I need to take a break or call an end to my shooting session. I tire, quickly, with the big heavy guns.

I am doing much more off hand shooting with this long rifle. As you know most of the shooting I do is from 1 knee so standing and shooting is challenging. But it is tiring for sure. I handled a Pedersoli Sharps Buffalo gun recently and it was a brute to steady and aim.
