.308 H015 .firing high at 50 yards when zero at 25
Hi
I bought my first Henry H015 in .308 single shot.
I zero at 25 yards with scope. Bulls eye.
At 50 yards it is giving 6 inches higher and at 100 yards nowhere on the target.
Any recommendations are appreciated.
Thanks

How high above the centerline of the bore is the scope?

Re: .308 H015 .firing high at 50 yards when zero at 25
any idea as to the muzzle velocity and specifics on the bullet
Re: .308 H015 .firing high at 50 yards when zero at 25
Id go back and rezero it at 50 and see what happens. Bullets are just starting the arc at 25 yards

Like Al said the bullet is still rising, it's a long range cabiler for Christ sakes.
I zero my 30-06 & Marlin 308 mx at 100 yds.

Back in the day we zeroed our M1's, M-14's and M-16's at 200yds. No scopes. I figure the younger generations must be really near sighted to have to use a scope at 25yds.
But besides the external ballistics, I suspect there's some significant parallax involved with his problem. The scope is probably indexed for 100yd no parallax, so 25 yds is going to be a problem.
Really need a lot more info to nail it down tho.

I like what PJM said. 4'x4' piece of cardboard with a 8" circle in the center. 50, then 100 yards. That may tell you[and us] something.

Thanks..let me try that.. Taking a big cardboard box and then try again.
But 6 Inches high from 25 yards to 50 yards is too high...

Is parallax coming into play?

per our ballistics program with a Nosler 150 gr Ballistic Tip bullet your bullets trajectory when zeroed at 100 yards would be as shown below

What does it say if zeroed at 25 yards?

Thanks. I’m thinking parallax at 25 yards for a centerfire scope might be playing a part. Just a guess.

Re: .308 H015 .firing high at 50 yards when zero at 25
hadn't considered that .... if he fires it using the iron sights and it is close, that eliminates the rifle and leaves the scope as the problem
Re: .308 H015 .firing high at 50 yards when zero at 25
And/or scope shadow.

Re: .308 H015 .firing high at 50 yards when zero at 25
No shadow was in the scope. Checked and found that Scope is designed for
Parallax Setting 50 yards
It is Diamondback 2-7 X 35
Can that play a role??

Re: .308 H015 .firing high at 50 yards when zero at 25
It could, although with your scope it shouldn't be a big issue at 25 yds or 75yds. Beyond that range it will probably become a bigger issue - it's all about the angles, inside the scope as well as from your eye and the scope, to the target. Note that parallax is affected by magnification - the higher the magnification the worse it gets. I don't think you need to run out and buy a $400+ AO scope, unless you plan on long range shooting - 400 yds or more. Just being aware of the issue and what you can do to compensate with your scope might be enough. Zeroing at 50 in your case is the best course of action, imho. Here's a short piece with a video about it:cityhunter wrote: ↑Tue Apr 06, 2021 9:05 pmNo shadow was in the scope. Checked and found that Scope is designed for

That luckygunner video ought to help the OP. Thanks for putting that up Gunny. A good watch for shooters having "issues" with sighting a scope.
