Re: Concealed Carry, simple question
Of course you are correct, I was only speaking of Federal Court Houses and the like.
I needed to be more specific.

I knew you were speaking generally, but I'm not familiar with the rules for all Fed property. But I did look up the applicable US Code. Again, it gives great latitude to whoever is in charge of that particular property. And the property must be posted per the below Code. The last section of the code at the link addresses posting/notification.cooperhawk wrote: ↑Wed Mar 31, 2021 11:48 amOf course you are correct, I was only speaking of Federal Court Houses and the like.

Generally speaking State owned property rules follow pretty closely to the US Code in this regard.https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/930
(h) Notice of the provisions of subsections (a) and (b) shall be posted conspicuously at each public entrance to each Federal facility, and notice of subsection (e) shall be posted conspicuously at each public entrance to each Federal court facility, and no person shall be convicted of an offense under subsection (a) or (e) with respect to a Federal facility if such notice is not so posted at such facility, unless such person had actual notice of subsection (a) or (e), as the case may be.

Before I retired from my job at an Elementary School we would have pretty regular lock down drills. Washington state does not allow school employees to carry on school property. One time we were notified to lock down by accident and the principal told me to go around and check doors. As I was walking around the building I remember thinking, What the he** am I supposed to do if I run into an armed intruder.
I guess I shouldn't have been concerned, there are signs on all the entries saying "No Weapons Allowed".

Exactly. Criminals are famous for obeying laws, and that sign would certainly deter them.

I'm also in a small to medium size town which has had a quiet history over the past 34 years I've been here. (I know, that could change). I don't carry on a daily basis. But I'll carry when I travel to areas that seem a bit shaky like when I'm using a secluded public boat ramp (frequently), walking public woods trails, going to a town with a bad neighborhood that I can't avoid and these days, to church!

I know a couple people/idiots that don't lock their cars and even leave their garages wide open and house unlocked when they go out. Somewhere in the far distant past, that might have been ok.
I think it is a mentality or lack thereof, that makes them feel like they are living in a wonderful, crime free world that gives them a sense if bliss....HELLO!!
