Thuty thuty and 45-70

Post by Centaur » Wed Mar 24, 2021 5:16 pm

Put my model 94 and Henry 45-70 to work today. 30-30 was dead on, and the big boomer was shooting a tad low, but I didn’t have the hex wrench with me to adjust the Skinner, so I raised it one turn when I got home, and will remember to bring it for the next session. Made a lot of noise and had a fun outing.

Centaur, do you handload for your 30-30? If so, whats the load, if you don't mind. Thanks. I really like my Mod 94, my original lever gun.

What I shot today were 170 gr bullets in front of 27.5 gr of 3031. A nice moderate load. I also shoot 150 gr bullets with 29 gr of 3031.

Those are two good loads! I'm running 34.0gr W 748/170gr Hornady FN. Pretty accurate load also. Love the old 30-30!

In the desert. The nearest range is about 30 miles away.
