Our Morning Coffee and Weather

24 heading to 51 and sunny. Spent some time raking the winter crud out of the lawn and hiking around the back of our property. The new neighbors who are building next door stopped by their place so we had a chat. They are pretty frustrated because everybody they need to get construction going from well drilling to just getting some gravel delivered to get trucks into their place without burying themselves in the mud are so behind due to demand that nothing is happening. Feel bad for them.

Planning more outdoor fun today as it’s going to be a nice one!

26 heading up to the upper 50’s here locally and possibly 62 where I’m playing golf today. Sunny with rain coming in over night (hopefully)

Finished my burning project yesterday, 6.5 days to complete. Amazing how so many piles of limbs can reduce to just a small percentage of bulk once burned. Below is the before and after pics and another pic of the burn spot. Local laws state I can only have one monitored fire no greater that 4 feet in diameter. So I pile limbs and feed the single fire. This fire pit is the result of at least three seasons of burning equal to what is shown. I had more piles not shown in the pic but it gives you the scope of the project. I piled up these limbs last fall and kept them covered over the winter to dry out enough to burn as cleanly as possible.

For me this is enjoyable work, I keep a radio going for entertainment (sports talk this week) and a big thermos of coffee on hand.

52 under a clear Carolina Blue sky in our part of Texas .... we sincerely wish you an uneventful (AKA : boring) return trip .... after y'all have had time to reflect on your first winter away from home in your camper, I'm really looking forward to hearing your comments

Went back to the Dermatologist this am, for my 2 week checkup.
She said they got all the cancer, wound healed well.
Good to go, back to my old sweet self. JK.

About once a month or so my closest neighbor go out for breakfast. Just a chance to catch up on things.
Anyway I drive and pick the place and he pays. Next time we reverse and he drives and I pay.
We went to the local comfort food place and lo and behold there sit two guys, one a carpenter that worked
on his house, and the other a contractor who has done dirt work for us. They're buddies and real characters.
We had a blast and sat with them for an hour and a half talking, eating and laughing.

I had country fried steak with sausage gravy, farm fresh eggs over easy, hash browns and whole wheat toast
and coffee.

I got home and it's almost time for lunch.

Thanks for the well wishes on the trip back home. Thoughts about the trip will be in the Texas thread where I have hitched along with Jim. Hatch you have a nice looking place there. Id love to be able to have a place in the trees like that.

Awoke to surprisingly low 50's. Supposed to get up to 70° or so. Cooked scrambled eggs, bacon, toast, and coffee. Took the sis-in-law to get her first Covid shot yesterday. They let her skip to the front of the line which I thought was fantastic! She was hit by a car while riding a bike when she was 11. Has spinal cord injuries and only gross motor skills in her hands. We've been taking care of her since 2011.

High 30s this morning with clear skies and light wind. Supposed to hit near 60 today.
Coffee and Granola and a few mixed nuts.
Work shop today putting second coat of Urethane on a cabinet I built. Almost done.
Snow is almost gone and the driveway is sloppy.
Every one have a happy day.

48 under a cloudless, Carolina Blue Sky on its way to 66 later today .... thankfully the storm system that moved through where we are camped on Lake Conroe a couple of days ago and headed northeast turned out to be a nonevent by the time it blew through our home area back in NC .... there are some solid reports of multiple tornadoes an hour or so northwest of our place .... scrambled eggs, our favorite sausage brought from home and Folgers ....watching "Seven Ways From Sundown" made in 1960, staring Audie Murphy

Thanks for the well wishes on the trip back home. Thoughts about the trip will be in the Texas thread where I have hitched along with Jim. Hatch you have a nice looking place there. Id love to be able to have a place in the trees like that.

Thanks Al. I hear you about the trees, our last place (2004-2015) was wide open which we wanted as we got into horses and needed pasture. Decided we were not horse people so chose to move back into the forest. Funny, the distance between our last place and here is only 2 miles. It was an easy move!

Speaking of here, it’s currently 41 heading to 51. Overcast which explains the warm temp. We did get a smattering of rain last night only enough to raise the humidity. So far for the month of March officially we have zero rain. It’s getting dry and the first brush fire of the season was reported on the news yesterday. Nowhere close to us but that’s a bad sign.

Not sure what today brings but my wife has already mentioned several tasks for me. Seems like she’s catching up after being a burning brush widow not to mention yesterdays golf outing.

I watch those old movies on GRIT. Seems like they run the same movies over and over but that's okay. Low 50's here to start. Just had a bowl of oatmeal and coffee this morning. The wife and I got the sis-in-law up and out the door for a doctor's appt. Going to the local LGS later today and see if they have anything. I haven't been there in months.
