An apple...two cans and a .30 cal air rifle !

Post by fortyshooter » Wed Mar 17, 2021 6:38 pm

A little backyard fun with the beast of a springer air rifle...the Hatsan Carnivore 135.

So I took an apple and placed it in a can. Then put a larger can over top of that. The fun was to see what would happen when a .30 caliber 46 gr. pellet would hit the can. So backup 15 yds. and give it a shot.

Pellet hits with a thud as the whole mess hits the ground. The pellet makes nice large entry hole in the large can and into the second can thru the apple and rips thru the back of outside can and into back stop with a thud. Those pellets are moving at a modest 600-650 FPS but carry a good bit of energy for a spring type air rifle.

Well I have a 2x6 staked to the ground that I clamp the rifle to and then a piece of 4 ft pipe that I slide over the barrel. Not a fast way to load!!

The 25 is the Hatsan Sniper 125 and is the better one for walking around and shooting or hunting.
Now the .30 cal 135 is for knocking the crap out of things for a few shots...rest... and a few more. It is a bit heavy too.

Wow! That's some serious power in an air rifle. Those pellets are huge!

HW 95 would be my choice if I was to go 25 caliber. I like those big bores especially for dispatching those grackels we have in the spring.
