Lunch and the afternoon.

Post by cooperhawk » Sat Mar 13, 2021 4:46 pm

Went out or lunch today and then to our new Menard's. Wow! That place is huge!
It's got to be as big as Home Depot.
Lunch was a really good corned beef hash and two eggs over easy.
Came back home and worked in the shop on a cabinet I'm building. Got wood filler done
on one door and the other is glued up. I'm making it out of cherry to match the other
furniture in our motorhome. I found out it's really hard to stain pine to match cherry.

I should also add it's a beautiful day here in the land of ten thousand taxes.
A light breeze, bright sunshine, and sixty degrees.
I opened the pole barn to let it warm up in there and used compressed air to
blast all the dust out of the work shop. The snow is almost gone, almost. :D
We have a chance of more snow Sunday night into Monday.

Just curious, not exactly sure where it is, only been there once.
A good friend owns it, I've been up to his cabin a couple times it's in Pine county.
On some big lake can't remember the name at the moment.
We would go over to Wings North for sporting clays and some pheasant hunting.

I think the big lake you refer to is Mille Lacs. It's 14 miles wide at the widest and 17 miles north to south.
Have fished it many times but under a treaty one of our stalwart politicians negotiated, the Indians are
allowed to net walleyes, while no one else can. Supposed to be subsistence only, but don't believe that.
It used to be a great lake to fish, now we call it the "Dead Sea". :x

I remember a Stinson automotive just east of the Brooklyn park area, I think it was between 2 golf courses. But it’s been a while.

Well, ask and you shall receive. I'm not an expert woodworker, I just enjoy doing it.

very nice indeed .... that really looks like a nice setup .... many years ago I went through a spell of trying to put together a woodworking shop but I suddenly lost all interest then I ran my left thumb into a table saw blade :(

I've had a few mishaps but nothing like that. I bet that hurt!

I made a cabinet for our motorhome using pine and tried to stain it to match the cherry woodwork in there.
I found out I could not match the stain or find a paint that was even close, so this Winter I decided to get
some cherry and build it again. It turned out cherry was hard to get and I finally got the cherry veneer plywood
last week. Now to find a varnish that matches as well. today I filled all the brad holes and did some sanding. It
depends how much snow we get, but I hope to sand some more tomorrow.

My shop is heavily insulated and has a furnace and AC. I can work in there year around. I love it.

Nice setup, Coop. I'm envious.
I built mine myself, insulated all around, wired it for 240, got AC ,
portable heat.
Just outgrown the dang thing.

That's actually one of our smaller lakes.

Located 5 miles West of Pine City, Pokegama Lake is part of the Snake River watershed. The Lake is 1,474 acres in size, about 3 miles long and up to 1 mile wide. It runs North and South, with a shoreline of 10.6 miles. It has 2 public landings, one on the North end and one on the South.

His place is on the West side, believe they've had the place since the 70's.
We've had a couple small gatherings there back in Oct. of '18, & '19.
There's been talk of a third, so who knows.
I really like the Wings north faciality, and Chad is a super host.
