Righthand vs lefthand

This morning I was trying out a new load for the Savage Axis, a 62 gr blemish that I got from Midway last Summer. Loaded over 24.5 grs of LVR.
Weren't bad, but not quite as tight as a load I have with the CFE, but some of that could be the operator.
Anyway earlier I was messing with brm in one of his threads, he's a lefty. And I used to practice shooting left handed, it can come in handy.
I have actually killed quite a few deer shooting left handed. yes really.
So after that I decided to load 5 more and give it a go.

I’ve learned to shoot equally bad both right and left handed. I’m naturally a lefty but live in a right world so I have learned to do most things with both hands.

I can even switch eyes.

When my son graduated from Marine boot camp in San Diego we went and watched. It was the time of the great fires around San Diego and not much was open so we went to the beach and found several small stores open. There was a store for lefties only, I was in 7th heaven. I bought a pair of left handed scissors. Still have them today and NOBODY uses them but me. I am extremely left handed but I have learned to use handgun right handed but have a tough time with a rifle.

I'm right handed, but use the left quite a bit also. Not what you'd call ambidextrous, but somewhat. I had rotator cuff surgery a few yrs ago, put my left arm totally out of commission for months. Got to wondering, how am I gonna handle shooting my pistol if the SHTF. So, I had a Co2 BB pistol, tried it left handed. I was knocking a tin can around the yard rather easily with it. Ordered another holster, L. handed. In business. Found out I could do about as well with either.
Never know til you try it.

I am a normal right handed shooter. My son is left handed despite tying his left arm behind his back as a kid !

Anyway, I have always practiced loading and shooting all of my pistols with my left hand only in case I was wounded in my right arm/hand and could not function.

Good idea. you never know if you're going to lose your strong hand.

Good idea. you never know if you're going to lose your strong hand.

I've seen it more than once as a young pup, motivated me to train, train, then train some more.

On that note, I purchased a premier body armor insert for my backpack that I travel with last month. Fits like a champ, and before I hit the road I did some range work and slipped the insert under my T-shirt to see if it would be stable. Not as good as true soft body armor, but in a pinch it worked really well. I was surprised that it did not shift very much.

My dad was right handed but played golf left handed.

My son is left handed but plays golf right handed.

What a family.

Both did/do all other tasks with the strong hand.

Another lefty here. I too shoot right-handed on occasion, both pistols and rifles, just to keep the ability. Like Vaquero, it came in handy when shooting deer on my "off" side.
Have a few left-hand bolt actions, but Henrys don't care which side you shoot from.

I'm right handed and shoot right handed. Because of shooting in competition that requires shooting weak hand, with a lot of practice I've become an acceptable left-handed pistol shooter. The problem is shooting left handed I still use my dominate right eye to sight. With a pistol this requires a canting the pistol to use my right eye. I've never tried shooting a rifle left handed.

My son is right handed but left eye dominate. He shoots a pistol right handed, but shoots a rifle left handed.

My problem at the moment is a developing cataract in the left eye, not operator able at this time they say.
Just a little cloudy, with the scope I can manage, but not so much with the open sights.
It doesn't hinder my day to day dealings, so will have to deal with it a little longer.

Same issue here, small cataract developing, not enough to deal with at this time. Think I'm falling apart, one chunk at a time.

.Left handed and left eye dominant . always shot left handed. This was quite advantageous in the army especially sitting on the right side of the hummv and on the right sector of a patrol formation, I didn't have to turn to get a sight picture, I let a few righties try my left hand bolt gun (it's laughable) yet I can shoot a righty bolt no issues.. right handed people were never forced to adapt ... Lefties are far superior!!
