BACK IN STOCK- Orange Henry gun case

Post by beaverislander » Thu Mar 11, 2021 8:26 am

I have always used a hard sided case but am thinking about going with a soft sided 40 incher for my Henry's. One has a red-dot sight and the others are standard iron sights, nothing fancy. Is the Orange Henry case at $35 a good one?

Thanks for the reply. I should have looked before asking as they are currently unavailable.

Henry cases are made by Allen.

I don't have the orange, but the green. They are well made.

Some of my H001’s have oversized custom levers and with some scoped rifles they are hare to squeeze inside but they do fit without too much stress on the seams.

Since we are on the subject of Henry cases I would like to mention the youth rifle case also fits the mares leg.

You can get the exact " Allen " case at Wally World for cheaper. Just not orange and does not say Henry on it.

I don’t have the Henry case but I have several Allen brand cases and they are well made and hold up great.

It’s sacrilege to put a Henry in a non-Henry case and blasphemy to talk about it. :x Or maybe I’m being over sensitive

Yes these are the same grade Allen cases you see at Walmart for half the price.

The cases have changed over the decades and I choose a different case for specific firearms. For an example I might take two rifles to the range. One scoped and one with iron sights. I’ll put the iron sight in say the case with the orange tip or maybe the one without the logo in the center, or maybe the one with the snap button handle. My point is I can tell what is inside because they are different.

Seems how I don't know how long before they are back in stock I will probably get something else. I can not get to a Walmart to check them out, I have to order on-line. Is the Allen "Durango" at $17 on Amazon the same case? If not could you tell me which one is? I need the 40 incher.
Thanks

I would say this one here is close to the quality of the Henry Case. Its more money but I have both this one the green Henry and Orange Henry case.

No they are made of different materials. The Walmart one shown has thinner padding and the cover material is also thinner. The Henry cases are made from a higher grade material.

I just compared an Allen made Henry case against a 10/22 Ruger case bought at Walmart years ago for about $17 and the Henry was much better.

It’s not like cases are like drag bags that need to be built to withstand abuse. The 10/22 case being half the quality of the Henry case is still a fine product.

For $17 I would say it would still protect your rifle more than nothing and will last your lifetime under normal use.

It just won’t be orange and say Henry.

At the time I bought my Henry, they had an offer of a free case, if you sent in proof of purchase during the offer time. I made it by one day, sent in a copy of the receipt, Henry sent me a nice green case. This was a year ago.
Lucky me, LOL.
And like Sir Henry, I just couldn't bring myself to put my Henry in a generic case.

Well, I'm hoping I have news to share about an upcoming addition to the Henry family shortly, but I want to wait a few more days until my FFL actually has it in his hands. At that time maybe I'll check in with head-quarters about a case. Either way, I' will wait a little while before getting something else. After all, I'm only 71 and plan on using it for another 29 years or so...... Don't want anything that's gonna fall apart.

Me too. Seems to be more subtle. Plus, it is a little longer (room for other firearms). But like lots of things, availability plays a big role. And, it will probably last for years to come.

Why Gene, whatever do ya mean?
I have rifles by all kinds of manufactures, non, and I mean non have case with the Firearm brand name on it.
Had a nice vintage Marlin one for about a year, but put it up for sale to benefit another gun forum I visit.
I'm like Mark, insignia don't mean crap to me.
If it did Hell I'd have to have them with Marlin, Winchester, Ruger, Springfield, Savage, Remington, Beretta, Browning and Henry. :o

For rifles I use four Henry, two Ruger, or two CZ branded cases. Some are longer, some are wider but between them will fit most anything I’ve taken to the range in the last ten years.

I have a big box somewhere in the garage of cheap cases. Some I’ve had close to forty years.

Damn I hate getting old.
