In an emergency situation...one cannot be picky!

for our camper, I prefer Goodyear G614 tires .... they are expensive .... their warranty is unmatched .... should it blow and damage your trailer within the first 5 years, if they get back whatever is left of the tire, Goodyear will pay for 100% of repairs and provide you with a replacement tire .... I've had it happen, they do stick by their warranty .... as to the replacement, I honestly haven't looked .... I asked for their best 235/85R 16 and by best I mean the one that gives the longest service .... no clue what they sent, I don't really want to know .... I have no doubt that it is some Chinese made tire that basically has no warranty at all .... with this weekend's drive to Granbury and back, we have 2,000 +/- miles between us and home .... when we get home I'll find a G614 and shift the tire put on today to the spare

I frequent the Forest River forum and man do those guys hate Chinese made tires. AKA China-bombs due to the damage they cause when they blow out. Scared me enough that I replaced my brand new OEM “China-Bombs” with Goodyear Endurance trailer tires. My OEM’s were Castle Rock brand and the only longer trip I made on them was to of all places, Castle Rock, WA. (Location of the Mt. Saint Helens volcano) Had a little bit of fun talking about that on the forum.

tough day's drive .... make that TOUGH day's drive ..... granted, as day's drives go, not exceedingly far at 244.6 miles which took us 4 hr 40 min .... where the tough came is with a strong Texas cross wind hammering the side of our rig, she was a handful .... in the just under 180,000 miles I've driven it, I don't recall such a strong wind for so many miles .... we had to stop twice to let air out of camper tires .... they were aired up in January with the temp in the 40's .... with today's temp in the low 70's the pressures built up to where they made our TireMinder tire pressure monitor very unhappy .... and when its unhappy, it most certainly doesn't hesitate to let you know .. .. while lowering the pressures I made it a point to look at the manufacturing dates .... they were made during the latter part of 2016 .... we make it a practice to replace our camper's tires before they turn 6 years old so its time for them to go .... now the question becomes, do we replace them in early June before we head for South Dakota or after we get back in August .. .. after arriving at Granbury RV Resort we unhooked, leveled the camper and connected to 50 amp service .... as noted earlier I've been trying to schedule a tour of Bond Arms .... well, I'm delighted to be able to say that it came through .... I plan to start a separate thread about the tour so all I'll say here is they have a most impressive operation .. .. after the tour we finished the tour we returned and completed hooking up our camper .... after that we traveled to my wife's last living aunt's home where we ate supper .... we are now happy to be back at the camper and settled in for the evening

You have had a challenging time on the road this year.

Heads you wait 'till August. Tails you replace them in June. It's your horse. Your road trip. Your gamble. They'll probably be fine. But, if money isn't an issue... Whats your bet? Roll the dice. Good luck.

The new Cedar Creeks Hatch have a Westlake tire on them. No one dislikes the China made tires more than I do. When I bought this trailer I mentioned it to the dealer. He told me to check it out online that the westlake tires were pretty darn good. So I did and found that there were even people buying them again to put back on there trailers.

I vote for June. As we know, RV tires never need replacing due to wear, only timing out.

we are happy to see a beautiful morning with promise of a beautiful day ... morning plans include to picking up replacement water filter elements at the local Lowe's and stopping by a restaurant to get lunch to take my wife's aunt .... we will also be taking shrimp and fixing to cook at her place tonight .... sit'n and talk'n is the order of the day

we awoke to 43 degrees in Granbury, TX .... hope to be on the road around 8AM .... it appears that we should have a dry drive back to Conroe .... we do have a single fuel stop about an hour and a half into the drive .... we've had a great visit and are now looking forward beginning our last scheduled 3 weeks in Texas ....

252.4 miles with a fuel stop covered in 4hr 23min after leaving Granbury we arrived back at Thousand Trails Lake Conroe Campground .... we are now fully setup .... this will be the last time we put out our full setup until October at Chesapeake

pretty much of a relaxed day .... we did drive over to the Kroger in Willis for groceries and made a second (much shorter) drive to the nearest Amazon Hub Locker .... nothing else on tap .... very warm, heavy clouds, pretty god breeze .... in short, a great day to sit outside and watch the world go by ...

the pictures below show palm trees in Thousand Trails Lake Conroe Campground .... these are older palm trees that have really been burned by the subfreezing temps we experienced in mid February .... I can't help but wonder if the cold will end up killing these palm trees .... oddly enough the last picture shows some damaged trees right beside some that don't appear to have been hurt .... it makes me wonder why most were but some weren't damaged

Same damage we saw on the Gulf but not quite that bad. Hope Mother Nature spares those palm trees

Jim, it that a permanent site or do they haul them along with them. Seems like they would be heavy to load and unload. Pretty cool looking tho....right down to the thorns. Ouch!
