Bond Arms Factory Tour

yesterday my wife and I went on a guided tour of Bond Arms ===> https://www.bondarms.com/ .... we were the first ones to be taken on a tour since Covid hit last year .... I did take a few pictures that show a few stations also seen in the video below .... their factory is in a relatively small, completely nondescript building that our Garmin couldn't find .... I had to call once we got close and have them direct us in over the phone .... we were told the facility's isolation is by design, I didn't ask for details as to why ? .... they are understandably cautious about pictures being taken inside their production area, the ones taken below were OK'd prior to me taking them .... they have really outstanding staff .... mostly fairly young .... they have been working 6 days a week, mostly longer than 8 hour days in an effort to keep up with demand .... while they pay close attention to their work, the atmosphere is relaxed and the staff clearly enjoys working together .... so long as their suppliers keep up, they are turning out 320 derringers a day .... their redundant quality control is most impressive .... their solid barrels come in as seen in the first two pictures and they literally do the rest ....their laser milling and other machines are most impressive .... the tour included details on their history that are fascinating .... it also included info on their innovative safety and other engineering features that we found to be very interesting .... the assembly of their trigger mechanism was fascinating to watch .... speaking of demand, the orders that come in tomorrow will be back ordered to be produced in APRIL OF 2022 .... that doesn't mean you can't get one now .... they have several major distributors who keep standing bulk orders coming .... the trick is to buy from a dealer who gets his from one of those distributors .... frankly, a derringer isn't something I've ever had any interest in buying .... that changed yesterday .... with most of their models having an MSRP north of $500 I'd still not be interested .... but they have introduced a line known as the Roughneck (MSRP $269) ===> https://www.bondarms.com/Roughneck-P8514.aspx and another known as the Rowdy (MSRP $299) ===> https://www.bondarms.com/Rowdy-P8515.aspx .... both are made from exactly the same components as the higher priced lines .... the difference is the stainless isn't highly polished .... the difference comes from the labor required to produce them which is much less than .... one of their benefits is they can be thrown into a glove compartment or other places .... with my arthritic hands I'm interested in a Roughneck chambered for 38/357 .... there is no doubt one go well with our Henry BBS and Ruger GP 100's .... we already load light 38's which I believe with them a Roughneck would be fun to fire .... color us impressed, they have a most impressive product and organization

Have a couple of Bond derringers, several different caliber barrels, daughter has one for personal protection. Sons and I have contests to see who gets best score from 15 feet. We have a lot of fun!

Very interesting and thanks for posting! Interesting that the barrel bore is not all the way thru.
I have thought about getting one at times and have held several of them at the LGS but haven't bought one.

How is the trigger pull brm? Have seen Hickok 45 shoot them and you have pull the trigger in an upward motion.

they let me handle several during the tour .... for me the trigger pull is fine .... the hammer determines which barrel will fire next .... the only way to change it is to fire a single round then reload .... if the one you fire is in the bottom barrel, you open the mechanism, replace the bullet, lock the mechanism, the next one that will fire will be the top barrel .... that will continue until you fire a single round and reload

the only part of the barrel that they cut grooves into is the part a fired bullet passes through .... no use to cut any in the chamber section where you insert the unfired bullet

that's exactly the way I felt about a derringer until yesterday .... I'm still not convinced that I'll buy one but the odds I will are much higher today .... I really like the concept of firing a 410 shell but I simply don't think my hand would be happy

I've always liked Derringers ever since I was a young kid. I checked on others, but decided if I was going to get one, it was going to be a Bond Arms. When they introduced the Rowdy and Roughneck, it didn't take me long to decide to get one. I got a Rowdy and I am totally satisfied with it. I got the 45/410 and it shoots just fine. Trigger Pull is no problem. I just put on a set of Altamont Wood Grips to dress it up. Very like-able little gun. Great US Made company to boot.

I have a derringer (Davis .38) that I picked up in the early 90's. In fact, I was in Texas. I like the idea of it being compact. Of course, it is more of a last defense type firearm. The trigger pull is very heavy, probably due to the lack of a trigger guard. My wife does not like it. But, it will likely get the job done, within 5 yards or so.

Trigger pull is average, not heavy and not light, I have taken the trigger guard off and I didn’t like it, seemed I think I had to grip tighter and squeeze harder. I think the trigger is the same as my Ruger New Vaquero. BTW I put trigger guard back on

That’s my favorite Bond caliber.

I believe at one time they were experimenting with a .44 mag barrel but that didn’t pan out, safety reasons
