oh well, out power just went out again ....

our power outage doesn't appear to be part of a rolling blackout .... off right at 9AM yesterday and today .... came back on about 10Pm last night .... will be interesting to see when it comes back on today .... after getting out of the vehicle and going in to pay, waited just over 2 hours in a very slow moving line to get our tanks filled .... right now we are running off of the camper battery which is being charged by the running our truck .... the 30 pound tank that was loaned to us looks to be have around 1/3 of a tank of propane left .... well, as this was being typed, our power came back on .... who knows for how long .... should the power go out again I don't plan to run the generator until as late as possible so as to make the tank last all night .... time will tell

I know one thing a small generator will be on order soon. I may not use it all that much. But it beats letting the truck run all night

over time I've done a good bit of research into portable generators .... while working in the industry, I learned that way too many folks impulse buy and are just lucky if they get on that will do what they want .... way too much to type .... if you'd like to chat about it, give me a call ....

Im not looking for one to run the entire camper just one to get us out of a bind like we are in right now. Costco has a 2200 watt made by Yamaha. Im looking at that one. Should be good enough for what I need.

the short version is, the Honda 2000's are fine generators .... as you probably know, they have a wiring harness which allows you to connect 2 of them and run a camper's AC plus a good number of other things .... Yamaha is also a top brand .... both are quiet, crank easy, strong and steady .... for your emergency use, going with one that has an accessory fuel tank that can carry you through a night without having to fuel is great .... lastly, make sure you have one that lends itself to an efficient pigtail to connect it to your camper and/or other appliances you may wish to run

in speaking with one of her sisters-in-law a while ago, my wife learned that they are asking folks to cut back on electrical use so that power can be freed up to be sent to Texas .... she mentioned rolling brownouts or blackouts but said that they haven't experienced any so far in Estelline .... my hunch is that having them in such a lightly populated area wouldn't save much .... temps will be in the uper 20s to low 30's during the 12 hrs from midnight tonight to noon tomorrow when freezing rain is to move in .... a return to night temps in the upper teens are scheduled to move back in Thursday and Friday .... once we get to the weekend a substantial warming trend should take over ..... hopefully that will relieve the stress on the electrical grid down here which in turn would relieve pressure on other parts of the country as well

the only communication we've had with the folks who run this CG was three days or so before all this started .... in it they said to run water and we have .... through this whole thing we've not lost water .... the rate of flow has dropped considerably but not stopped ..... a few minutes ago I turned the pump on as I walked by it and I heard it come on .... looked at the stream of campground water in our kitchen sink and it was stronger .... cut the pump back off and the flow diminished .... so, it is working but I have no clue why .... yesterday we called the mobile tech who takes care of our camper while we were here and told him to order a replacement and come by as soon as he can to install it .... I'm probably going to still have it checked .... if it froze an cracked, turning it on could flood the basement

Power back at 4pm today. Just got back a short time ago from getting propane for the second day in a row. No water now due to broken water lines over in the Corpus area I think. Im warm and I got food and drink. We have water in our tank which I will conserve until it comes back. Hopefully soon.

really glad y'all have power .... we never lost water but do anticipate they will soon cut it off so as to replace burst pipes ... we do have a full tank of water but no confidence in our camper's pump .... an taking steps to have it replaced but who knows how long it will take for the mobile tech to get here .... I suspect that between now and next week many campers with pipe damage will found

its time to reorganize our short term thoughts and plans .... my wife did a great job of prestorm grocery shopping but we need to restock within the next couple of days .... from what we understand the large, very nice Kroger in Willis was pretty well cleaned out a couple of days ago .... one would think that they should be able to restock rather quickly .... as I think is pretty normal, we are talking about things we could have handled differently and/or been better prepared .... historically, such conversations usually end up costing some $$$

FINALLY .... the temp in our area on Lake Conroe has risen above freezing .... not by much, but 33 degrees is above freezing .... two more nights in the deep freeze (19 tonight and 20 tomorrow ) .... sure hope this forecast is accurate .... with a return to sanity in daytime temps, our snow cover should quickly disappear

43 down here with a stiff wind. Supposed to go down to 30 tonight. Still no water but they say will have it tomorrow. They are working as hard as they can on it. This has been a real experience and educational. But its also been very rewarding. There is some truly great people here and its nice to be a part of them.

agree on all points .... we've experienced the same in our campground .... the folks with long term site rentals have stepped up and made a huge difference to those of us who are here on short term stays

While i feel badly for the both of you being there and experiencing the difficulties of the extreme weather It’s been interesting to hear directly and personally what is going on in Texas. So many sad stories on the news but your personal touch has been interesting to read. (I say been because I’m hoping for you both to get back to reporting on the warm temps and drinks on the beach again! )
