What's with these 18-20something young ones and weather?

Post by fortyshooter » Thu Feb 11, 2021 4:19 pm

Twice today while looking out my window and it's 37 F with cold rain turning to sleet...I see them out in shorts with just a T-shirt or sweat shirt on.
Just saw a girl walking her dog and just shorts, sweatshirt and no hat. Yeah I know young but when I was that age in this kind of weather I had a coat on! I get a chill just looking!

When I was way much younger I could tolerate the cold much better than the heat. Now that I am much older, I can tolerate the heat much better than the cold. It is what it is.

I agree with what you are saying about the young kids, but I see older folks as well. When I go to the grocery store, I've got on 4 shirts, 2 pairs of pants and cowboy boots and there will be a guy in front of me wearing a tee shirt, shorts and flip flops.

In the middle of a pandemic yet...

Interesting article, lots of kids literally feel uncomfortable all bundled up:

OTH, when I see a kid standing in the rain in a tee shirt, I think “moron!” and move on with my life. You cannot fix stupid. The world is full of idiots.

Cold tolerance has gone out the window for me over the last few years. Back when I was in my 40s and 50s, I used to do a lot of winter diving. I remember diving 38 degree water with ice forming on the gear in between dives. I was in a 1/4 inch wet suit. I did graduate to a dry suit a few years later, but was well known for jumping in water in the 50s to rinse off after the last dive of the day.

Not any more. I was heavily layered up hunting a few days ago with temps in the upper 50s. Still chilly.

UPS guy came thru McDs this afternoon, wearing shorts. Temp was 30. He probably sticks his tongue to metal poles too.

When I was younger I used to go out and embrace the Winter.
Do that and the cold will never bother you I said. :D
