its my understanding that the first date the IRS says we can file our Federal Taxes is Feb 12th .... we use H&R software and they say their next update will be on Feb 18th .... question, when do you plan on filing your taxes ..

.. we have the documents needed to fill ours out right now but don't know if we should wait until after then software update on the 18th

Slightly more than 45% of my income goes to Federal Income Taxes, state sales tax, and property tax. I would be rich if it wasn’t for taxes

Thats insane I think. But her house and your house are probably close to the same in value. That sales tax is crazy. But ours is about 7 and then we have state income tax also.

well, we just sat down and filled out our taxes .... we have used H&R Block for years .... the program imports last year's data and we put in only the new info .... e-filed both our state and federal .... both are shown as pending .... now we will see when the Feds accept ours

My tax guy had already confirmed the 12th and the first filing day of "the season," and I didn't even know there was such a thing. That window may open a bit earlier for CPA types and at a later date for individual filers, but that's just a guess.
Bottom line is the 12th is the earliest for anyone, as I understand it.
Good news is, he says he'll be ready to hit "Send."
