Big gang shootout in our small town Saturday night...

Post by fortyshooter » Mon Feb 08, 2021 7:31 pm

This kind of stuff just doesn't happen around here but it did about 2 AM this past weekend.
https://www.wtvr.com/news/local-news/co ... estigation

The Waffle House which is right on our main blvd. was the scene of two groups of thugs that decided to shoot it out with as many as 6 shooters the police say. They picked up over 100 spent casings of various calibers from around the business and around the neighborhood homes behind the place.
The shooters were running thru the neighborhood shooting from behind homes, cars even trash cans!
Folks that lived around there said they awoke to about 5 minutes of gunfire and were ducking for cover in their homes. Police said 4 people involved were injured.

Just crazy stuff going on and even in normally safe towns! Be safe out there folks!

Happens everywhere. Big town, small, quiet neighborhood, no matter. Only way to stop it, put them out of their misery.

It's the new norm, there will be cries for fun control but I doubt any weapons related charges will be filed because they're most likely already felons. But target shoot on Weyerhaeuser property without a usage permit and oh my god

There's a dozen or more such incidents every day somewhere in the country. Only a small fraction of them ever get more than local press, some don't even get that. Seems that body count determines how much press an incident gets.

Do not not think that just because you are in a small town you won't see this stuff happen, and it is likely to become much more frequent in the future. In my small city (pop 250,000, 300 miles from Seattle), gangs are responsible for 80% of all crimes. Almost all of them come from the heavily populated West Coast urban areas like Seattle and Southern California, as well as from Chicago, Las Vegas, New York, etc.

This is a very interesting summary of gangs and how they operate. It is the young wanna-be members, those on probation, who do most of the shootings. They have no remorse and they intend to prove their value to the gang. The gangs bring in the meth, the meth addicts the users, the users smash car windows and break into homes looking for money for their next fix. Quite a vicious circle, and one that is really hard to stop. Facing down a desperate meth addict can be extremely challenging for the average homeowner.....

There are certain rough sections of Spokane that I would have walked through unarmed and unafraid twenty years ago. Not any more.....And don’t think that being 200 miles away from Washington DC or Baltimore will keep them out of your sleepy little Virginia community. I suspect that they have already arrived. Daily carry, even at home, and stay vigilant. And speaking of Big Gang Shootouts, maybe it is time to watch all of Justified, to get your mind into the methods of ruthless country drug lords. It is a terrific show BTW, with a very high body count.

^^ That realization is slowly - very slowly - making it's way into rural/small towns. It's a difficult thing for most folks to come to grips with when their entire life has been one of relative peace and tranquility. Many people in my small unincorporated farming community leave their car unlocked with the motor running at the post office or the local dollar store, etc. and don't lock their house doors ever. Because they've never had to worry about it. Some carry a sidearm but most don't, unless they're going to a big town like Jackson, NOLA, or up around Memphis.

Yes we have incidents of trouble mostly around the Mall area and apartment complexes. Population here around 18,000 and I suspect this involved groups from other surrounding cities. Always carry when I am out and about.

I live in a small rural county, the smallest in TN. True, people like to think "it" can't happen here. I tell people, crooks are the same everywhere. Big towns just have more of them.
It only takes one to become a serial killer or mass murderer, etc.
I carry my Walther PPS M2 9mm,everyday, everywhere it's legal.
I carry concealed. I like the advantage of surprise. So far it's got to stay in its holster. Hope I never have to use it. It's a messy business, not like on tv.
I rarely ever buy a rifle, but when I do, it's a Henry.

Classic gang shootout. It will happen anywhere and at anytime. It's very sad that the drug problem brings this about.

I bet it would get quiet real fast if you walked in one of those restaurants about 2am and laid a Mare's Leg down on your the table.

Depends on the State. Some places you'd see SWAT show up real quick. Other places you'd get friendly inquiries about it and where a body could buy one, etc.

On a lighter note, when I read Forty’s post title I thought it was going to be a range report from his saloon. Too bad reality has to shove it’s ugly face into our daily life. Seems like the last couple of years I can’t go a week without hearing about a local shooting on the local news. My brother is a recently retired Spokane County Detective who was assigned to gangs for several years. Glad he’s home taking care of his grandkids two days a week. :(

Neighbor told me it just happened right behind our houses. There is a brand new complex there and now one building has people who want out of the contracts. That building also has some bullet holes in it. Im sure this will change in the future.

A small suburb west of the Twin Cities had a shooting yesterday. A disgruntled older man shot up a health clinic.
Seems they had refused to support his drug habit with prescription drugs.
He had a lengthy record and was well known to the police, but somehow he still was able to purchase a new
pistol. That's something that should certainly be looked into.
He entered the clinic and started shooting. One dead, three hospitalized, one treated and released.
Ironically, he was one of the persons who called 911 reporting the shooting.
Yes, they have him in jail.
One of the injured is the niece of a friend of mine. She was shot in the leg and remains in the hospital pending
surgery to remove the bullet.

This clinic is part of the same HMO we belong to, and they ban guns on their premises. Guess he didn't read
the sign on the door.
