38gr = 3.6" grp
39gr = 3.5" grp
40gr = 2.2" grp
41gr = 2.1" grp
42gr = 1.8" grp taking out one of the 5 would have gotten 1.4" grp. At this time the pain was setting in and I had to pad my shoulder.
42gr is stout, not pleasant at all. I don't want to see what 43gr will do. 44gr is right out!
Next up is IMR-8208 with Sierra 300gr JHP/FP.
After that 405 MBC Buffalo #1 with 13-15.5gr. Unique

excellent report .... really nice groups (specially) at 100 yards .... your H010 comes from the factory with a recoil pad, based on your use, would you consider upgrading it

H010 came with pad. Bought this rifle last week. Skinner .070 aperture sights.

My tolerance for punishment has dropped over the years. 15 yrs ago in WA state I hunted with a 300 Win Mag and 338. Both were rather rough. The 338 caused flinching. I moved to GA and sold them both. Now I have a Rem 700 308 in a McCree stock that I shoot 2.6" groups at 500yds. This is enjoyable. Lately after 24 rds out of my M1 Garand reaches the intolerable level (only wearing a t-shirt). The purpose of me wanting..."needing" the H010 was because I have a rolling block half octagon 90 yr old 45-70 that is too old and too nice to shoot. I truly love shooting this H010. I just tested 13 gr Unique with 405 MBC #Buffalo. That was pure enjoyment!

The Unique loads are for low recoil and cheap shooting and lots of fun . The fps is very near black powder loads without the mess . Not for serous hunting or target work . At 14.0 Unique you get 500 rds out of 1 lbs can of powder and at 42.0 of RL7 you only get 166 rds out of a 1 lbs can . Wheel weight cost $ .50 a lbs and produce 20 rds 405 gr bullets . So if you cast you own bullets you can make a box of 100 for $2.50 and a lbs of Unique make super cheap shooting .

points well understood .... I can identify with them .... since the 80's my favorite deer hunting rifle has been and continues to be a Remington 700 BDL chambered in 300 WBY Mag .... out of the box, that sucker kicked like a mule and I spent a considerable amount of time researching how to lessen its recoil .... back then the Browing BOSS system was new but I didn't like the way it redirected the muzzle blast back into the shooter's face .... eventually I settled on a trio of upgrades that has served well on several hard kicking rifles .... first, upgrading to a top quality recoil pad .... back then it was a Pachmayr Triple Action Field Pad ===> http://www.pachmayr.com/home/F990.php <=== and in spite of claims to the contrary, I'm not at all convinced that there is a better one available today ....that said, at the recommendation of a gunsmith I trust, on the last few we've installed Kick-EEZ Magnum Recoil Pads .... for me the jury is still out on them .... second, install a Mercury Recoil Suppressor ===> http://www.mercuryrecoil.com/ <=== there is no doubt in my mind that they work .... third, having them Mag-na-ported ===> http://magnaport.com/rifle.html <=== I haven't tried their new Mag-na-brake and really am not leaning in that direction .... with this trip of upgrades, my 120 lb wife has shot our 300 WBY with a full power hunting load from a sandbag rest .... in January I plan to take our Henry 45-70 to a gunsmith to upgrade its recoil pad (still arguing with myself on which pad to go with) and install a Mercury Suppressor .... next June we are due to be in Michigan near Mag-na-port and plan to schedule an appointment to take it by for them to port it while we wait .... I'm really looking forward to firing it after the upgrades .... based on past experience, I have no doubt the difference will be substancial
