The last thing I would share on the subject is something I told a friend getting over a loss. Don't rush to fill the void. Don't jump at the first opportunity and make a big mistake because you are hurting. Most of the comments indicate this NOT to be the case.

I have seen it... It's worse if you have anything of value...
Male or female, you become the target in the herd.
You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.

I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.

Ya wish I would of listened earlier in my life. I was 24 when I lost my first wife. She passed at 23 and there was a void there that was tough to get thru. I pushed it to fast and ended up later in life wishing I hadn’t

Yesterday during the Super Bowl there might have been a half dozen single single women my age at the neighbors shop watching the game but Covid19 nixed that and there was only three of us guys.

There are no neighborhood parties where in the past I would have met people. There are no street fairs, no concerts in the park where I might have met women. Instead I have very little opportunity to meet people.

I’m saying people one time and women the next because I wouldn’t mind having more male friends too. I didn’t really realize it but when I was married to my best friend I didn’t cultivate male friends.

That is how I met my second and now present wife. I will advise though that at times you have to wade through quite a few undesireable and questionable people.

I told Mike, if something happens to you I'm done with guys. It will only be me and little man. I'll raise him to the best of my ability and stay single.
I told Mike if I go first he better not date, I'll haunt him.
I never take myself seriously....

I did the same thing, (although she didn't die, her Mother didn't like me), and I didn't think anyone would want a divorcee. In those days it wasn't quite so common as now. I jumped back in and it was a huge mistake.

I was single the second time for 17 years and over that time I interviewed a lot of marriage candidates. When I lived
in the DC area there were many more single women than men and they held parties, which I attended.
Usually left with a lot of phone numbers. I always told them from the start that I wasn't interested in marriage again.
They never listened.

When I moved back to Minnesooota it was hard to meet anyone. Minnesotans don't party too much and if they do it's
with family or close friends. Sooooooooooo, I did join one dating site. It was supposed to be for only professionals and
singles. I found out that females lie. Just like males. So I finally quit that.

Then... a good female friend started a dating service. She called me at work one day and said she needed help. She had
all these women who had paid a lot of money to join, and she had very few men. Well, I agreed to help her out with her
problem, but very quickly found out that there were just as many whacky women who would pay for dates. So I quit that
as well.

Then one day she called me again at work and said she had this women I just had to meet. I argued for a bit and then said OK.
Which leads me to where I am today.

My bottom line is why not give it a try. You'll meet some ladies that are very nice, and some that you understand quickly why
they are single. It was fun meeting all those folks but remember, everything has a price. Don't promise anything.
And don't tell them where you live.

Thanks coop. I’m looking more for an activity partner and not necessarily marriage. I’m told if I say that I won’t get many responses. I really liked the hiking groups because it was a group setting and for whatever reason women would talk freely while walking. Dating compared to hiking is like night and day.

On a date the women are far more likely to not talk nearly as much. It’s more like a job interview and they want to know everything about you. Hiking on the other hand they will talk more about their dreams, goals, and desires and they don’t necessarily put themselves in the best light.

That would solve the age old problem of asking a gal her age,
which they guard like Ft. Knox.

Funny thing, even your friends will lie to you to fix up their needy friends. Wait, to fix up their wife/girlfriend's crazy, needy friend. That makes mama happy, then they are happy. You just got set up with a serial killer, but your friend might get 24 hours of peace at home, or brownie points.

After my last divorce, I dropped two longtime friends cold for that game. (It was one date bro, it didn't kill yah, come on...) I don't think women pull this on their friends.

My wife has made a similar comment. She wants me to hang a picture of her in the bedroom. I guess she wants to be the first thing I see in the the morning and the last thing at night. Or, there is no one other than her.

I told her that once I am gone, do what you want to do. Just try and be happy. But who knows, we may go together. That what happened with my mother and father. They passed within about 18 hours of each other.

understood on being leery .... I couldn't help but be .... I'd guess that as with making buying decisions on Amazon another websites .... I'd look for consumer evaluations on sites I've heard of and go with one that has mostly very good ratings over time .... my wife worked with a lady who met her husband on such a site .... they've been together for about 15 years

You/ they can be anybody they want to be on the internet.
It's like anywhere else, there are good and not so good. You get the job of weeding them out.

I wish someone had warned me about someone. Instead they encouraged the relationship because they thought we made a cute couple.

My wife asked me if I'd re-marry. I said I might. She asked if I'd let her use her truck, I said yes. She asked if I'd let her use her art room for something, I said sure. She asked if I'd let her use her golf clubs...I said no, she's left handed.
