Let me also add that any nursing home will usually have a large percentage of patients that are broke.
They pass away "Intestate", or in other words with no earthly possessions. In that case the govt gets left
with the bill, which they absorb. So Medicare tries to collect what they can.

Was 54 here this am and made it to 68 didnt do very much today try to get a bike ride in tomorrow. My wife owned an assited living home for 30 years. Ive seen it all. My Grandmother was 102.5 when she passed. She was in my wifes home for 7 years. I put her there because in the wifes assisted living home assets werent surrendered to the home. She wasnt broke when she passed and was always able to pay. But the prices werent what they are today either. I hope I never go in one and right now I dont see why Jack K the Dr that would put you to sleep did a bad thing. If I knew my quality of life was going in the nursing home Id just as soon check out and never check in.

Well wish me luck, planning a range trip tomorrow to shoot my muzzleloader. Forecast calls for -15F and snow. Tea in a thermos, patch lube in my shirt pocket. I restored my Frontier rifle to the original primitive rear sight and I am determined to learn how to dial it in. Going to try some 50 yd shooting, off hand cuz if I kneel down at those temps I might not unlock my knee 'til summer.

It's 10:55 PM. Temp right at 32 and snowing heavily. Getting ready to hit the hay and see what we have in the morning. So far, about an inch or so.

Not too bad today or tomorrow..30's or better..then a few cold days... I will be hopeful that the two springing heifers I have that look close will hold off till after the cold spell.... if not i will do my best and see what happens .... everyone has their own set of challenges.... some we bring on ourselves ( I was the fella that bought 12 bred heifers calving in January and Feb). (9 have calved... 3 to go...only two look close) so this is something of a self inflicted challenge.... of course,, sometimes we all have mountains to climb that are not from any action of our own.... to those of you out there in such tussle, I wish you the best outcome...
....on the trail it's difficult to see around the next curve,or over a hill ahead...all part of a learning experience.... coffee up and head out to meet it.....or something like that......

Morning, Al I heard from a couple friends this morn up in WI & MN, -14 to -17 brrrrrr.
Only 30° here in central W TN.
Wife's 97 yr old grandmother passed Fri morn, got visitation this evening.
Al, my wife mostly and her cousin lately have been caring for her at home for the past 5 yrs.
She didn't want to leave her home and Tammy made sure she never had to.

26 and looking at the mid 30’s with some sunny times today. Like Sir Henry said our cold temps arrive mid-week. This side of the state is looking at the low single digits with highs in the teens to the twenty’s. 14 degrees on the west side is cold, cold, cold. Lots of humidity there.

Enjoying my coffee and watching it get light outside. Looks like clear skies with winds, the trees are moving around pretty good.

I’ll probably watch the Super Bowl today but I have no dog in the fight so don’t really care about the outcome. I’m a golfer and watch some golf on TV, mostly the four major tournaments. But the one tournament I always try to watch is always on Super Bowl weekend, the Waste Management Open at Phoenix. While all other golf events are a bit stodgy and stiff this one is different. The crowds are encouraged to get loud and rowdy and the booze flows freely. On one hole that is a shorter hole (par 3 for you golfers) and it is complete surrounded by a multi level grandstand. Being a short hole the golfers reach the putting green with their first shot. When a shot misses the green the fans start booing and jeering and it’s just a lot of fun. After hitting their drives the golfers walking along the stands and throw swag to the fans. It’s a lot of fun to watch. I watched some yesterday and there are probably 5% of the number of fans as normal so it’s just not the same. Sad, maybe next year.

It’s been years since it’s gotten down to the teens. In my forty some years of living in the area I have seen single digits but not for a few decades.

Sunny and 57° headed towards a high of 68°. Glad to have a day without contractors in the home. There was only one painter yesterday finishing the painting in the master bath. A little tile work and flooring and it will be finished. Cereal again this morning. I'll be glad when we get the kitchen back.

Well, we made it church and back. I'm sure she gained a star for her halo and I get a dunce cap for being out in that cold.
We drove through pockets of -26 degrees on the way. That's too darn cold.
We're home and Carol is happily making biscuits with sausage gravy and fried eggs.
That's my reward. Love it.
Staying home all day, nothing else planned, but will probably putter in the work shop.

Surprisingly the eggs seemed to be farm fresh free range. She said she got them at Aldi's, so that's a surprise.
I suppose there are some of you who'll think, "what 's the difference?" Well, the difference is farm fresh have
a much brighter yellow yolk and much stronger flavor. I grew up on them and love them. Most of the time the
eggs we get are pale yellow yolks without much flavor.
If you haven't experienced that, give it a try. Farm fresh aren't available in every supermarket, but they can
be found.

I am an egg lover, cooked in various ways. Carol will eat them, but they have to be cooked well done. I don't like them totally runny, but don't want them over done either.
