Works like its supposed to.

certainly not in ALL cases but most definitely in most cases its well worth taking the time to look for a simple fix to RV issues .... all too often things aren't installed exactly as they should be .... sometimes things shake loose while bouncing down the road .... sometimes a wire, hose, pipe, etc gets pinched or cut .... its sure nice when simple fixes take care of the problem

during our 3 weeks at Lake Conroe we put 223.1 miles on our truck ..... I'm happy to report we made it 9.2 miles without taking on fuel or making any other rest stops .. .. and are setup in Majestic Pines --- https://majesticpinesrv.com/ ... its a very nice, new park and they are expanding .... the pictures below show our site, the area we are in and our proximity to I-45 .... concrete sites, good utilities, clear view of the southern sky

relaxed for sure .... while its a beautiful day, the wind has a bit of a bite to it .... we are lounging inside watching "The River Of No Return" made in 1954 staring Robert Mitchum and Marylin Monroe .... arrangements have been made to meet the gunsmith who does all of our work on Wednesday .... he will be glass bedding the stock and installing a good aftermarket trigger in our Remington 700 chambered in 300 WBY Mag .... over the years we've spent good deal in improvements designed to reduce felt recoil .... this will be last items we plan to address in refining the accuracy

Nice park Jim we are still where we were and moving to another site at the end of the month where we will stay here until March 7th. Then on to New Mexico for a short stay there before returning home.

its been a good day .... following a brief grocery run to Willis this morning we spent most of the day relaxing on our site's concrete patio .... Majestic Pines is an interesting campground .... truly a blend of old and new .... on the old side, there isn't a computer in the office .... all records are written by hand and kept in notebooks .... I have to hand it to them, they know their system so well they don't miss anything .... as noted, the vast majority of their sites are tied up in long term leases .... most are folks who live in their campers and work in the area .... the atmosphere is quiet and relaxed .... everyone we have met has been very friendly .... note the variety in the campers parked under shelters

a long awaited big day for this trip has dawned .... we are meeting a friend who is an excellent gunsmith for lunch .... I'm taking him our Remington 700 BDL that's chambered for 300 WBY Magnum .... out of the box, it was punishing (at best) to shoot .... a series of mods over most of the last 50 years have reduced the felt recoil to where that is no longer an issue .... he will be glass bedding the stock and installing a high quality, aftermarket trigger .... for decades if asked if I could only have 1 rifle, my answer was always this 700 .... it is extremely versatile in that it can be loaded to fire from 110 to 220 gr bullets .... my favorite load is a 180 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip for range work and their 180 gr Accubond for regular big game hunting .... for deep penetration Nosler's 180 gr solid brass E-tip .... all three group with very little (if any) scope adjustment required .... right now its far more accurate at any distance than I am and the reality is, I doubt I'll ever fire it at distances where the glass bedding and trigger work will make any marked difference .... since the day I took it out of the box, I set on a path to upgrading it the highest level possible .... once he's through working on it the only thing left that could be done is going with a specialty barrel but I simply can't justify that expense

the forecasters clearly didn't see the thunderstorm going on where we are camped near Willis, TX .... steady / heavy rain falling at 48 degrees .... thunder rumbling and growing closer ...

packing up day .... in fact, a very light packing up day .... about all I need to do today is clean and pack our Traveler smoker .... with less than 10 mile tow back to Lake Conroe Thousand Trails, we have no motivation to get on the road early tomorrow morning ..

our short day's tow back to Thousand Trails Lake Conroe campground went smoothly ... we lucked into a very nice site and had no problem getting fully setup ... pictures tomorrow .... back in May of 2013 we replaced our camper's OEM door lock with a first generation lock from RV Lock ====> https://www.rvlock.com/ .... for us, the biggest advantage in making that upgrade was the getting the key fob remote .... over the years, we used the heck out of it .... as but one example, its sure nice to have when you drive into your site during rain and be able to eliminate the time it takes to unlock the door while getting soaked .... as another, being able to unlock the door when you have your hands full of groceries or whatever .... since its install we have used it so much that it literally wore out some gear or other such component in the motor that locks and unlocks the deadbolt .... as always, the install took a bit more time than it should have but its in place .... after getting the first one, programming the remotes went pretty smoothly .... still haven't mastered changing the keypad code .... plan to call the company tomorrow and get help figuring out what I'm doing wrong ....

that it is .... their locks don't come cheap .... they are solidly built but as with any thing made by men, given long enough use, some components can and eventually will wear out .... I didn't take the old one apart to see but my guess is the part that eventually failed was a very small gear or bearing

talk about an attention getter .. .. the forecast for Saturday night is calling for the temp to drop to 18° with a RealFeel of 1° .... WindNNE 13 mph with Wind Gusts tof 21 mph .... that's really cold for these parts ..... if it does reach 18, that will be a record for us .... it will be the lowest temperature we have spent while in our current camper .... the water system in our current campground is not designed to handle such low temps ..... in years past we have seen water pipes burst in the campground at temps well above 18 .... it should be interesting
