SS 357 at the range

Post by wolfman » Sat Jan 30, 2021 9:54 am

Revolver & lever have been eating up all the range time, so my new single shot had been waiting it's turn. Had only fired a few for function check until today.
All of these were fired at 25 meters, standing offhand. Looks like I'll need to drift the sight just a bit, but it's pretty close. Made an effort to use Kentucky windage on the last couple groups.
Saw a new eye doctor a few weeks ago, and whatever she did to set my prescription (progressive lenses) worked a charm. Focusing with the iron sights was better than it's been in a couple decades. Had planned to scope this rifle very soon, but shelved those plans as of this morning. That day will come... but it is not this day :)

That last target where you stated using Kentucky windage looks great. Take away two rounds and it’s a very tight group.

Great shooting there Wolfman and the wood on that SS is beautiful! Shelf ammo or hand loads?

Thanks for the comments guys!

These were handloads, 158 grain jsp over W231. Medium load, haven't run them over a chronograph from a rifle. They get ~1030 fps from a 4" revolver. It's neither a cat sneeze nor bear medicine, but it's been accurate in two revolvers & now three rifles.

Excellent shooting! It looks like you did well with the Kentucky windage. You managed to move the group nicely.
