Wearing A Mask
I would like to limit this thread to only the masks themselves and how they are worn. The reasons for wearing a mask and their effectiveness is also not part of this thread.
What I’m looking for is information on what kind of cloth and design you found that is the most comfortable and won’t fog glasses if you need to wear them.

I haven't found one that won't fog you glasses, unless I keep it below my nose. Also have trouble breathing thru them.
I rarely ever buy a rifle, but when I do, it's a Henry.

Re: Wearing A Mask
I refuse to wear one, with the expectation of a couple times that I have been to see a Dr.
Then only because, well whatever. then it is one of my face protectors for riding the scooter.
So no help.

Sorry didn't mean to take us off topic. If I absolutely have to, I can pull my neck scarf up, they are silk and not too bad if you have to. But most of the time I am a bad person.

Re: Wearing A Mask
I wear a mask all the time and I find that cloth ones are the most comfortable. Make sure it's a double layer of material. A single layer is the same as not wearing at all. Also, make sure the nose piece is sturdy but flexible.

Re: Wearing A Mask
Everyone in CT is required to wear a mask in public and everyone does.
There is a simple test for the effectiveness of masks. Months ago, I used a bandana mask (like Jesse James) until I put it through the test. If you can blow out a candle with your mask on, it's not keeping you or your neighbor safe. My bandana was woefully ineffective.
Now I use a KN95 mask. Fogging is inevitable if the mask is not tightly fitted below the eyes.

Re: Wearing A Mask
Same here. I usually wear a bandanna (HAV-A-HANK) like a train robber from the 1880’s. My best way of limiting exposure is to go out during non-peak times. It’s something I can do as a retired person. I have turned around several times in crowded parking lots and came back home.CT_Shooter wrote: ↑Thu Jan 28, 2021 9:46 pmEveryone in CT is required to wear a mask in public and everyone does.

For others making comments let’s try to keep it just about the masks. All I want to do is be able to function (see) when I’m wearing one.

Re: Wearing A Mask
I've been wearing these at work. They have a zillion different things printed on the masks. The only issue I have is the ear loops irritate my ears after about an hour and a half. This is true for all masks I have worn. I solved this by tying a shoelace through each of the loops and then looping that around the top of the back of my head without the ear loops around my ears. Once I have it adjusted properly it stays put and is comfortable for me.
These are very easy to breath through. The only other issue is after wearing them quite a while, months, you get fuzz pills on the inside fabric. A quick shave with my razor takes them off.

Re: Wearing A Mask
I started doing my weekly grocery shopping at Fred Myer in the late evening, start around 8:30 and there's very few shoppers. Occasional trips to the hardware store. I always wear one of the layered masks, not a KN95. They are definitely not foolproof as I came down with Co-Vid around Christmas. The only person I am in contact with without wearing a mask tested negative right after me so it's likely I got it while wearing my mask. Luckily I had a very mild case so the mask may have helped. I was told by the nurse that was checking up on me that they think the severity of your symptoms may be related to how big a dose of the virus you get.

Re: Wearing A Mask
my wife has made all of our mask .... hers is sewn from a pattern that is pretty complicated .... mine's pretty simple .... three layers of cloth from a western bandana sewn together .... its wide enough to cover from just under my eyes to below my chin .... I have 2 of them .... so far no glasses fogging

Re: Wearing A Mask
I had a couple of the form fitting N95 masks in the shop and have been using those when I go into a store. We also have a bunch of those blue and white disposable mask that we wear at sometimes. I like the N95 the best since I don't get any glasses fogging.
Now I am hearing that there might be a need for double masking with the newest mutations going around. At some point you might need your own scuba tank setup!

Is the scuba tank for charging you air gun so you can shoot at the virus. Good idea.fortyshooter wrote: ↑Fri Jan 29, 2021 9:21 amI had a couple of the form fitting N95 masks in the shop and have been using those when I go into a store. This is my current mask. I am very diligent about washing it every six months whether it needs it or not.

Re: Wearing A Mask
I use real surgical masks and N95 masks. They each have metal bands across the bridge of the nose. If you press tightly over the nose and get a good seal, you won't fog your glasses. If you start breathing through your mouth while breathing hard from running or exerting yourself in cooler weather, you will fog up no matter what. (Northeast weather experiance) I only wear a cloth mask when outside and I may run into someone else outside. Then I pull it up over my nose. Otherwise it is a chinstrap and over my mouth.
I have an essential job that I need medical grade equipment masks at work. You would be surprised how long you can stretch the life of a 3M N95 mask originally bought for sanding the deck if you care for it like your life may depend on it. A harbor freight flip up plastic face shield that kept grass trimmer clippings out of my eyes because I wear glasses supplemented my N95 at work when you couldn't get a face shield.
The one time use surgical masks are really not one time use either. The cheap copy cat masks sold in bulk, are not the same.
Get some KN95s if that is as close as you can come.
