Range Report: range stakes

Post by Sir Henry » Thu Jan 28, 2021 4:39 pm

Or should I say range steaks!

With all my projects going on I don’t have the time to pack everything up and go to the range so I’m plinking whenever I get a chance.

Today my goal was to barbecue a steak while a potato was baking inside. Not much to do in between so I lobbed a few bb’s at the bullet traps. Then I switched to the side targets and plinked at different gongs. Each gong makes a different sound. I don’t know why hearing the different sounding dings and plinks brings me joy however it does.

Yes I know I didn’t eat any vegetables or salad.

Musical gongs. I love it! I'm going to have to set something up and give it a try.

Well that range steak looks tasty and you do have the right sauce to go with it! Medium rare with a touch of Red Ryder!

I think it would be cool to do a video and edit it so the different sounds (notes) would play a song.

If you can find some mild steel bar stock 1/4 inch thick x 1 or 1.5 wide you can try various lengths for different tones. Maybe start at 4 inch and go longer by a 1.5 inch increments. Hang them using fishing line.

I wonder if a tube stock might sound better. Might be harder to hit the center each time on them.

I don’t have the right camera or editing software. Hmmm, I wonder who might.
