Fast Pitch

Post by BrokenolMarine » Mon Jan 25, 2021 6:29 pm

When I was a kid, I loved to watch fast pitch softball. The fizz sound that ball made coming to the plate, the speed of the game. We split our time between behind the plate fence and outside the long fences. If we returned the home run balls to the snack bar we could swap them for a small soda or a debbie cake. :D

This video popped up in my feed, this gal has a hot arm.

You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.

I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.

Very impressive. Growing up in rural Illinois, I enjoyed watching fast pitch also. There were some pretty well established leagues-both male and female. Some of those pitchers were absolutely amazing.

I was a member of a rescue squad with a paramedic who was all set up with a college scholarship until a line drive caught her in the face, which ended her competitive opportunity.

Seeing her reminds me of The King & his court, a 4 man softball team. Eddie Feigner was the King & pitcher, he was amazing !! My dad took me to see him play a men's championship team, I think The King & court won like 11-0 that would have been mid to late 50's. Watch his movies (no video back then) on you tube from the 40's thru the 60's

back in the early 60's I played a single game against Eddie Feigner .... he was "The King" of the King and His Court professional fast pitch team .... they barn stormed all over the country for decades and in many circles he's acknowledged as been the finest pitcher of all time .... at the time I wasn't a bad ball player and looking back, I can say I actually fouled one pitch from him .... later in '67 or '68 I remember seeing him in a game against pro baseball players on Wide World of Sports .... in that game I saw him strike out Willie Mays, Willie McCovey, Brooks Robinson, Roberto Clemente, Maury Wills, and Harmon Killebrew all in a row .... OK, I admit I only remembered Willie Mays and had to do a bit of research to find the others .... now days there are many really top quality female pitchers who have outstanding skills .... at my best, I probably couldn't have hit their pitching either

My granddaughter, who is 15, has been clocked at 65 mph indoors. But to go along with that, she has a wicked change up so they can't sit on her fastball. By the way, most of the girls wear masks now, especially pitchers. I have seen many a girl take a shot to the face and keep their pretty smiles.

Why you shouldn't play dodge ball with a good fast softball pitcher.
