decision made .... heck of a time for a cold snap but that's way beyond our control .... the snow/ice/rain possibilities for Thursday night into Friday have reached the point that we've decided to leave home a day early .... thankfully, it didn't prove to be any problem to extend our first booked stop at Heritage RV Park in Augusta, GA where the forecast for Thursday is "Becoming cloudy, becoming breezy in the afternoon with a brief shower or two" .... that sure beats what they are calling for here .... our trip itinerary given in post 1 has been updated .... absolutely no plan whatsoever with what to do with our extra day in Augusta .... for the most part, I suspect we will spend at least some of the day sorting things out in both the truck and camper

well, yesterday we completed the hardest part ( I hope ) of the install .... that being installing the "Rhino Signal Booster" ....

I literally just walked in from installing the sensors and I can say a few things for certain .... first, it appears to be a good system but we will learn more as we use it .... second, if yours has a booster, install it first and make sure its working .... third, when you are ready to install the sensors everything ready and have it at hand (everything meaning tire pressure gauge, air hose/pump, a chair and a small table you can move) .... reading the manual first is critical but not for the reason you may think .... before doing anything, call TireMinder and tell them you need help installing your system .... reading the manual first will help you understand what they are telling you to do .... if you try to install it by yourself, good luck .... doing so will most likely end up costing you considerable time, effort and increase your frustration level .... they are very patient and without there help, I'd not be anywhere near finished .... as to installing the booster being the hard part - physically yes - mentally no

Do ya ever sit and wonder Jim. All these gadgets we have. Try to keep them working. Batteries need replaced and when you dont use them very often you need to get the owners manual to see how to run it again. Then you cant remember where you put the owners manual because you dont use it that often. Recently I looked at that propane tank level gauge you mentioned. After looking at and thinking about I just decided I have enough to take care of now and I dont want to have another item that I cant figure out why it doesnt work or it needs a battery. Theres a guy north of the border who has a horse and a couple guns. Life is simple there. Im ready for simple here.

understood on approaching an overload of technology .... the areas of technology that peak my interest deal with safety and/or convenience .... at first I simply couldn't force myself to spend the money for a tire pressure monitoring system .... over the years we've had 3 tire explosions that damaged our camper and the third one pushed me over the edge .... we've had no explosions since and have had warnings that gave us time to prevent them .... the first one proved to me that a good system is well worth the money ....

I depend on my tire pressure warning system and no longer check the pressure. When I drove long haul I had a temperature reading gun. I would check the temperature of the tires and not the pressure. It was a lot easier. Try checking the pressure of the inside tire with a pressure gauge. It isn’t easy and you have so many to check. Hitting them with a hammer will only tell you when they were almost flat. Temperature will start to go up with a tire that is only 10 pounds low.

just came in from moving the truck an camper into position to drive straight out in the morning .... I turned on the new TireMinder Monitor and the pressure in all 10 tires held steady overnight .... it did prove to be necessary to reposition the booster a bit so as to not come in contact with any moving part of the auto leveler .... it seems to be working well

well, mostly last minute items left to take care of in the morning .... about through updating the maps in our Garmin 760 .... weather predictions for our driving days (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday) look good ... its a little too far out to pay much attention to the forecast for Sunday and Monday ....

our 1st day of travel on this trip has arrived .... 280 miles to Heritage Campground in Augusta, GA where we have a one day layover .... supposed to be rainy tomorrow .... all but about 20 miles will be over I-40 to I-95 to I-20 with one fuel/rest stop planned .... should be in the low 50's when we get there, no rain forecasted .... we've been off the road for a while and it will take some time to get back into travel mode

pictures show our rig parked beside the house, ready to pull out this morning .... today's drive was a bit longer than anticipated .... 315.6 miles in 5 hrs 31 min .... as planned, one stop for fuel .... steady traffic on I-40 that moved right along .... heavy traffic on I-95 that coupled with construction slowed thing down .... light traffic across SC on I-20 .... currently setup at Heritage RV Park in August, GA .... it appears we were wise to leave a day early .... forecast for back home tomorrow :

rain set in here shortly before dark .... and is supposed to hang around all night .... there is a moderate chance of rain here tomorrow and with temps anticipated to hand in the low 40's, we will be spending most of the time inside ....

just got back from stopping at a Advance Auto Parts and Super Walmart .... both within 3 miles of our campground .. .. the forecasters were way tooooo optimistic in predicting the rain would hold off for 111 minutes .... it was raining when we stepped out of the camper and is still coming down .... talk about a cold rain, it sure is .... we are now back in a warm camper watching Audie Murphy in the Guns Of Fort Petticoat ..

thankfully, shorter day's drive on tap .... hopefully it will be an uneventful .... about 3 1/2 hrs to the TA Truckstop at Slidell, LA .... from there another hour and fifteen minutes to today's destination of the Baton Rouge KOA .... hopefully the icy weather approaching eastern Texas will go north of us and be long gone shortly after we are scheduled to get to the Lake Conroe Thousand Trails tomorrow
