Three Days At The Range

In the winter my life revolves around rain. In decades past I would plan an outing and if it rained I just just got wet. With today’s weather forecasting I can plan ahead.

So next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are going to be range days. I need to do about ten hours of work outside each week and am doing that in the rain sometimes. I don’t want to miss range time because of yard work.

as much as I have commented on weather rock being more accurate than our local forecasters, I have to hand it to them .... about two weeks ago the predicted the rain/snow storm that just blew through here and dropped all of the snow in New England ... ... hopefully they will be accurate about the break in your area's weather

I don't trust any weather report. Today it was supposed to clear up and temps in the low 50's. Instead is cloudy and never left the 30's.

Well we were hoping for a sunny and 50's Christmas Eve afternoon to have my son's family over and all be in open backyard but now calling for chilly windy and showers.
Have to smoke the ham the day before I guess. Make other family plan.

But back to the range....still to wet down there!

Our range has good drainage. We get rain like this every winter.

Now that Tuesday is here I report the weatherman was right. Low ground fog that will burn off soon and a height of 48 and a low of 27.

What the weatherman didn’t mention was there would be flooding and then snow. No range trip today. Maybe I’ll plink in the backyard with th HW70.

Snow sucks

Just the opposite, up here, on the snow. The winter sports people are getting very nervous for lack of snow, given we have snowmobile and ski races scheduled for January and only have a few inches of snow cover on the ground. Serious problem when we would normally have at least a foot going into January. Winter sports are a big part of our economy in snow country. Lack of snow cover, though, has made for good ice on the lakes and a lot of neighbors are already out on the lack, ice fishing.

This was going to be today’s range rifle. New to it are the Harris bi-pods. I wanted a high, low, medium but they where out of the medium. That’s the one I wanted the most. The low with be okay bench but not height enough prone. The high is more standing using a table.

In to take her bows is Little Girl my resident rodent control officer after she recently notified me we have rats. Yes rip at the carpet. Sometimes I think she does more damage than the rats.

Then she parks under a rough service 60 watt bulb that produces lots of heat.

Our ski areas are the same. Low snow years they go bust. Stevens Pass will have ten feet of snow on the ground by January in the good years. A foot in the bad.
