Many gas pumps have had 'skimmers' installed so use a low-limit card.

Last year Mike surprised me with a trip to Europe booking a room that ran us 3k a night.
Just kidding, his card info got skimmed and the bank caught it. I think it's the second or third time his info was compromised

We have been hit a couple times, the worst was several years ago, right at Christmas. They spent just under the limit, I think it was $1500. They spent $1400. We were still living in VA at the time, the charges were in CA. They charged a Big Screen TV, Stereo, hair extensions, nails, and a few other things. The TV, stereo, hair extensions were ordered. I called and told the companies they were paid for with fraud, they still were going to ship them. I gave the CA PD the info, wasn't enough to worry about. Visa wouldn't prosecute for less than $1,500.

We didn't even have to pay the $50, and they sent the card priority.

The investigation revealed a waitress had been duping cards for several weeks while she waited tables in a nicer restaurant. (Cards with higher limits). She worked there for a month, then quit. Her boyfriend was downloading the scans every night and cutting cards. But... They weren't selling the cards locally, nor selling them until they moved on and started at a new location.

We haven't let the waitress take the card since. If THEY have to ring it, one of us tags along. If the register is in the back, we pay cash, or have a manager walk us back or don't go back and post the risk online.
You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.

I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.

Sorry that it happened. Happened to me twice in a 5 year span. Ended up it was through a hotel that I had stayed at twice in Anaheim. The night audit crew had some extra activities I guess.
