Re: Just ordered a Skinner Peep
You are going to like your Skinner sights. I've been using them for two years now & they are great.
Andy is fantastic to work with.

That is a good idea. One less tool to carry.CT_Shooter wrote:I just added the knurled knob on the Express to adjust raising and lowering the peep and I bought a smaller .70 peep that is just awesome looking down the barrel. I'll post a report on the new setup as soon as I get to the range again, which I expect will be some day next week.

I've got to go look up the knurled knob for the Skinner. I've got the express sight.
Thanks for the heads up.

Frank V....if you get the knurled knob (thumb screw), you will really like it. It makes a big difference when you adjust from 50 yards to 100 yards. Well, it does for me and I have one on all of my Henry rifles. If I remember right, there only $8 bucks from Andy@skinner sights. Also, if your wondering, Andy installed a lead shot ball inside of the hole (Andy calls them soft metal shims). So don't worry about messing up the threads when you tighten the thumb screw.Frank V wrote:CT_Shooter

Re: Just ordered a Skinner Peep
Do you do adjustments from 50 to 100 yards? Seems like it would be tough to get back to zero. May be easier to hold over?

Re: Just ordered a Skinner Peep
Not to throw cold water on your upcoming purchase, but....
I made a copy of the Skinner peep sight a while ago (was very familiar with the peep on a M1 Carbine). I also made a new front sight because the original was not high enough to suit the new Skinner-style rear. My copy of the Skinner was actually a little better than the original, though not as pretty.
I found that the Skinner-style was too far from my eye to be useful, no matter what diameter peep (aperture) I used. Could be just the way my body is built. But I solved the problem by buying a Marble's tang-mounted rear peep, which comes with three apertures, is adjustable (click-stop) for both windage and elevation, and is MUCH closer to my eye and more effective. Not to worry: the Marble's sight is spring-loaded and therefore no danger to one's eye in the event of an accident. Plus, it folds down when not in use. Another plus: I re-installed the original Henry front sight.

Re: Just ordered a Skinner Peep
We ordered one with the extra peep holder. Had to do some filing to get the dovetail to fit but came out wonderfully

charles1114, give Andy a call he will be more than glad to help you select just what you need. I spoke with him & he set me up with just the right height glow front sight. I really like the Skinner sight.
