I don't really talk about what I do for work on here, but my day job involves wines and spirits. There was a trend a couple years ago to do a shot of whiskey with a 'pickle back'. Basically, you shoot the whiskey and then a shot (half shot works fine) of pickle juice. Sounds strange at first, but the pickle juice really dulls the sting from the whiskey! Needs to be decent pickle juice though... I did it once with Vlassic and it was a disaster!daytime dave wrote: I put some dill juice in over ice and added the vermouth, vodka and a pickle piece on a toothpick. A Dirty Dill. It's great.

Does it taste like beer? Any good? I've never tried any of the non-alc beers.

Having one Rolling Rock and watching the Little League Southwest Regional semi-final between New Mexico and Texas West from Waco, Texas. Later I'll watch the Orioles and the A's from Oakland. I love my baseball.

I'm going to have a martini and hit the hay hopefully soon. Martini first. Long day.
I hope everyone had a great day. Tell us about it whether it's with an adult beverage or not.

That's very good whiskey that you have there, I have had it in the past, but tonight just Diet Pepsi and watching the ball game between the Cleveland Indians and the Washington Nationals. Spent time at the farm today and bought two dozen ears of bicolor sweet corn. We will freeze some.

It's not bad. Tastes like beer mostly. I quit drinking 30 yrs ago so it's a close 2nd to the real deal.JCN wrote:Does it taste like beer? Any good? I've never tried any of the non-alc beers.
.5% alcohol maybe? If you tried to get a buzz off it your bladder would give out long before your liver...

Tonight, on this hot and humid night, I will have a couple of these Rolling Rocks and watch some baseball. I had planned to watch the Yankees and the Rays from Yankee Stadium in New York, but at this time it is pouring rain there, so we shall see if and when it stops. I have some other games to choose from, and now, even preseason football is starting! The Lions at the Steelers is on tonight!

Just making some tea. Nice cool evening. Trailer hooked up to truck, leaving in the dark tomorrow morning to go move cattle. Ride Badger tomorrow and Dakota on Sunday. Hopefully no rain.

Re: The Adult Evening Beverage
I'll be settling in with a few shots of Tequila after sharing a fine lobster dinner accompanied by a large plate of roasted cherry tomatoes with my sweet wife. It was a delightful meal, and better yet, the tomatoes grew in our backyard and the lobster was just $4.99 per pound. Lobster prices seem to have plummeted.
Just as an aside, I sorely miss Sir Henry. That has nothing to do with tequila or lobster or tomatoes, but I wanted to say it out loud. I know he's going through some very difficult times, as are several others in our group.
I wish you all the best, Sir Henry. I raise my glass tonight toward Washington state and drink to your health and that of your family.

I'm just about to sit down with some Canadian Whiskey and the little woman. It was another long day. Humidity was awful.
I too think of our Sir Henry often. I miss him. I am going to raise my glass in his direction and think of him and his family.

Wasn't a bad day, spent some time on the interstate and came home and cut grass. We have had some good rain and thunderstorms lately. Big cracks of thunder and the chihuahua disappears for the evening. Having a Rolling Rock and watching some baseball. Bedtime is usually around midnight, sometimes later.

Nothing exciting today, washed the RAV4, worked in the yard and took Winnie for a walk. Had a few neighbor's come to visit, which is something that we do on a regular basis here. It's a quiet, happy and safe neighborhood. We want it to stay that way, and we are well armed.
