Re: 44 Mag First Henry
Congrats !! That looks like mine. Do you reload ?
Oh and guess what? The barrel on the .44 carbines is really 17.2 inch and not 16.5 as advertised!

Nice looking Henry, looking forward to your range report too. I hunted in sleet and freezing rain several years ago. I returned to deer camp like a double dipped glazed donut. I don't blame you for waiting for a better day.

fortyshooter I may try my hand at it with the cost and scarcity of ammo.

Thanks to whoever fixed my pic!
Gonna try the Buckhorn sights first, but these old eyes might need a little help in the near future.

Beautiful rifle, and the 44 Mag will due anything needed. Congratulations. I just go my 44 Cowboy in yesterday. Going to try her out tonight I hope, if work does not let me work overtime.

She’s a beauty, love those classic lines.
Great idea to get into reloading but right now just like ammo the availability of components particularly primers is terrible. This will turn around eventually and you will find reloading to be both enjoyable and economical. (Not counting the cost of the equipment but you can start with the basics for a couple of hundred)

Nice rifle, the 44 mag is a legendary thumper. I think you really need to start reloading, it's the other firearm addiction

I have the same model. It just looks mean don't it?
Handy, too. I don't think the shortened barrel costs all that much velocity because most .44 mag (factory loads) are handgun loadings. You might like to try some peep sights. They made mine a lot easier to shoot with my aging eyes.
Nice gun!

Re: 44 Mag First Henry
Stopped in a local gun shop looking for a front sight for my Canik. While there started talking about my Henry 44. After looking at a scope and a red dot I decided to get this ...
UTG 6" ITA Red/Green CQB T-dot Sight with Offset QD Mount
The folks there recommended it and I liked the optics. I realize it's not very expensive. Got it home and put the Henry sight mount on no problem. Went to out the red dot and discovered it won't fit properly. Gonna head back tomorrow and take it back. Loved the looks of it. Loved the visual t dot.
