Hats off to ya Coop. Thanks for the service. To me the most disrespected Vets were the ones who served in Nam. I have 2 friends who were there one has an arm that took shrapnel. The other is my closest friend and hunting buddie. Have a great Thanksgiving.cooperhawk wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 8:57 amA gray day but not too cold. Mid 30s. Again!![]()
Coffee and Peanut Butter Cookies.
55 years ago today, on Thanksgiving, my partner and I ate Thanksgiving Dinner in Nha Trahg, VN.
We had spent the previous two weeks in Plieku in support of the battle going on in the Ia Drang and
the previous day our CO had withdrawn us as the battle was winding down and our job was done.
We had left unfinished business at the Army compound in Nha Trang, so we returned there to finish the job.
After the Army rations in Pleiku we were astonished what the Air Force Mess had to eat. It was a
feast. Turkey, dressing, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, ect. All excellent. We ate till we were bursting.
At a table next to us were some grunts who had been in the battle. I have no idea how they got there, but
they were laughing and talking about their experience in the battle. Now you might expect that was irreverent
considering what they'd been through, but let me tell you, they were just glad to be alive. So were we.
I think of them on Thanksgiving Day. Hard to forget. I also think of all the dead I saw.
I am thankful.

Like others here, the wife and our oldest grand daughter are the only ones at the T'Day dinner of smoked Turkey covered in whole cranberry sauce and some vegetables. I forget to mention the 3 cats and 2 dogs.

35 (forecasted low was 26, the weather guessers missed it again) heading to 44 with some sun. Heading to the range this afternoon to test some loads. Our range is located right on the Spokane river so I’m concerned about fog. Hopefully by waiting until mid-day any fog will have burned off.
Enjoying my coffee now with some coffee cake waiting to fulfill my breakfast needs. Yum.

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
Wow! Sunshine again! 26 degrees and a little wind. Supposed to climb into the forties by tomorrow.
Slept like a log. Coffee and chocolate pie left over from yesterday. Life is good.
I missed the kids yesterday, but they all either called or PMd. Our littlest grandson even did a Face time call with us.
I'll work in the shop today and maybe do a little pot hole patch on the drive way.

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
after a long but really good Thanksgiving day, I'm a bit late in getting started this morning .... the sun has broken through a thick fog and its already up to 63 degrees on its way to 70 later today .... almost no chance of rain but that is supposed to change considerably late Sunday and into Monday .... regular breakfast, Folgers still flowing .... my wife has gone with our daughter to pick out her Christmas tree .... guess decorations will begin over the net few days

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
38° and dark. 1st cup of Joe is down. We continue to move to our new house today. We've been slowing moving for 2 weeks I guess. It's been going into storage units, but today we can start loading stuff into the new garage. It's been tough, just me and the wife. My son is helping today with my heavy tool boxes, freezer, etc.
I guess I did good on buying ammo over the past 7 years. It took multiple trips with the hand dolly. (I'm not kidding) the .223 was heavy , but the 7.62x39 was even heavier.

32 and bright sunshine this AM. Supposed to go to forties today.
Coffee with peanut butter cookies and a can of V8.
Plan to get the motor home out today and take it for a drive just to oil it up.
It's been sitting since March. Turned on the block heater yesterday.

Will put lights and tree decorations tomorrow with some of the grandkids. Gonna make a big old pot of chili this morning and cook all day. Everyone have a great day.
