a nice thing
a nice thing
Today a stranger bought me and Flora our lunch at our favorite diner. I don't know who or why. When she went up to pay, the cashier said it was taken care of. I was outside waiting so I did not hear the conversation. When Flora asked who the cashier said she could not say. My wife watched out of the corner of her eye as she walked out and she thinks the cashier gave it to a Navy vet. I had my vet hat on so it plausible that it was him. I was going back in to thank him but the wife said let it be. I was and am profoundly affected by this. You know I am going to " pay it foreword". Sometimes life is amazing.

Cool. We have been on the receiving end as well, and also done it. It's a little thing but you never know...Karma happens.

Great story. I know I have a better time with giving than receiving. Paying it forward sounds like a great plan. Like RR said, Karma happens.
Re: a nice thing
Yup been there done that. Always nice to hear about it. Im like Ernie I like the giving part especially when its totally unexpected.

I've had that happen a few times. Very nice patriotic gesture. Still hard to get used too. I rarely ever buy a rifle, but when I do, it's a Henry.

Re: a nice thing
I've had someone ask if they could buy our meal and I always say we don't need it but someone else probably does.
Then I've had the sneaky ones who pay on the sly and leave. OK, that's nice.

Re: a nice thing
On a bit different note; When I lived in Chicago, I had season tickets for the Chicago Blackhawks. At one game, I had lost my wallet. Freaked me out. Thousands of people, and yet a young man called me the next morning and said he had it and I could come pick it up in Bolingbrook. I did of course and everything, including cash, was still in it. Offered him cash, but he refused.
Said he found it in the rest room no less.
