Re: Hurricane Eta
they've named it IOTA and a monster it is .... they say it will hit land in pretty much the same area as Eta as a Cat 4 .... can't help but feel sorry for the folks down there
Re: Hurricane Eta
I’ve never experienced a hurricane. We get regular 50-60 mph winds off the Pacific, but it’s not usually too damaging around our place. Trees come down, power goes out for a day or 3, but generally not buildings getting flattened type stuff. I’m pretty happy to not ever have my house shredded by a hurricane or tornado!
Hope all of you in that area fare well this season!

My power was out for three weeks after a wind storm in Seattle. That was the day Clinton was inaugurated.Redthies wrote: ↑Mon Nov 16, 2020 11:14 amI’ve never experienced a hurricane. Re: Hurricane Eta
you are very fortunate .... from time to time, Hurricanes do move through our area ... back in '96 Fran devastated a large area .... a cat 4 or 5 is often described as a 300 or more mile wide major tornado that also includes a deluge .... after Fran we were without power for 4 hours short of 2 full weeks

Now projected to move west into central America. Not good for those poor folks.
I have experienced several from my time living on the east coast. I even enjoyed one
in Vietnam, course that was a Typhoon.

Re: Hurricane Eta & Iota

Re: Hurricane Eta & Iota
per AccuWeather : "Forecasters say Iota will not follow in Eta's footsteps and will instead meet its demise over the mountains of Central America during the middle of the week."

Re: Hurricane Eta
Well, I lost the roof of my new 30x18 rv tent. It was a very heavy duty model, costing close to $1500. It was only windy for 1-2 hours, but the 60+ mph winds were enough. And today it’s pissing down rain. Fun stuff;)JEBar wrote: ↑Mon Nov 16, 2020 11:34 amyou are very fortunate .... from time to time, Hurricanes do move through our area ... back in '96 Fran devastated a large area .... a cat 4 or 5 is often described as a 300 or more mile wide major tornado that also includes a deluge .... after Fran we were without power for 4 hours short of 2 full weeks
