Re: 2021 Trip To Texas
new wipers installed .... with a very busy day on tap, not much more to be done today .... tomorrow (or shortly thereafter) I hope to begin removing our truck and camper's old tire pressure monitoring system

Re: 2021 Trip To Texas
replacement control panel power cord arrived from Quadra Manufacturing .... thankfully they sent the correct on this time .... have scheduled our oldest grandson to install the cord Wednesday afternoon .... he can get into and out of the area of the camper's basement where the the cord needs to be installed .... I could probably get in there but doing so and getting back out would require way to much language I'd have to pay for down the line

Re: 2021 Trip To Texas
we continue to check off pre-trip items that need to be taken care of on our truck and camper ....
truck ===> in the shop for them to find an air leak in the truck's compressed air system .... turned out to be air bags in the spring cabin suspension .... in addition they found that the truck's rear brakes need to be replaced .... no clue what replacing them will cost ..
..
camper ===> plans have been made to replace the auto leveling system's control panel wire tomorrow afternoon .... the forecast is calling for 3 days of rain .... no clue if/when we will be able to get that taken care of ..

Re: 2021 Trip To Texas
well, as I mentioned above and can be seen below, we've had heavy rain .... taking advantage of a short but most opportune break in the rain, our youngest son came by and installed the replacement control panel wire ..
.. to say that having our camper's auto leveling system operational is a major relief is an equally major understatement

Re: 2021 Trip To Texas

Re: 2021 Trip To Texas
another day, another delivery .... this time from Walmart instead of Amazon ..
.. 80 lbs of Pit Boss BBQ Competition Blend Wood Pellets ===> https://www.walmart.com/ip/2-pack-Pit-B ... /882061273 to be used in our Traveler smoker .... those two bags will fill 3 5 gallon buckets .... that is what we took with us to Estelline, 3 months later when we got back home we had just under 1/2 of a bucket left .... as of right now, nothing I know of needs to be ordered for the truck or camper ....

Re: 2021 Trip To Texas
no word from etrailer on the TireMinder system .... with Thanksgiving later this week, I have a hunch delivery may well be delayed
Re: 2021 Trip To Texas

Re: 2021 Trip To Texas
"clod in the churn" .... a little while ago I emailed etrailer requesting info ... just received the following in response :
"The manufacturer has pushed back the release date for the tire minders you ordered. We are expected to be able to ship to you middle of December. We are very sorry for this unforeseen delay. I will personally be watching your order and I will notify you if anything changes."
we don't really need the new system until after the first of January so at this point there isn't a major issue .

Re: 2021 Trip To Texas
couldn't stand it ... called TireMinder directly .... told them we have a system on order and a trip coming up .... I was told that they hope to have all components in house and to be able to start shipping during the week of Monday, Dec 7th .... sure hope that turns out to be accurate, this is the last major item on our pre-trip checklist

Re: 2021 Trip To Texas
our trip preparations have hit a lull .... historically we try to have our camper and truck shinning when we hit the road .... right now both need to be washed but we've decided not to do so prior to heading to Texas .... the reality is, they can be perfectly clean when we leave but we won't get to the state line before road grim will have started to accumulate .... once we get there we may address washing them but not until .... our last outing in our camper is scheduled to be with our camping club over the weekend of Dec 4 - 6 .... during this outing we traditionally test all systems .... so far as I know, all's good and we sure hope it stays that way

Re: 2021 Trip To Texas
reading statements like the one below tend to motivate me to take whatever action we can to be ready :
During Sunday night, rain will reach parts of the Ohio Valley, the central Appalachians and the mid-Atlantic coast with the potential for severe thunderstorms that includes damaging winds, flash flooding and isolated tornadoes from northern Florida to eastern Virginia. The strengthening storm will cause winds to roar along the Eastern Seaboard, where peak gusts can reach 80 mph, or hurricane force.
while we've ridden out far worse conditions in our camper, and it makes sense for us to pull the slides in and make sure all exterior compartment doors are closed and locked .... unless we have to do so, we just can't see subjecting our slide awnings to that level of wind .... in short, its time to batten down the hatches ...

Re: 2021 Trip To Texas
good wishes appreciated ... looking outside right now, there is no way one would have any clue that such a storm is on its way .... looking at the weather radar, the front's edge is still about 500 miles southwest of us and right now its not impressive looking .... they've been forecasting this storm for over a week and have been pretty accurate .... if that remains it should be out of our area around noon on Monday
Re: 2021 Trip To Texas
We depart on Dec 28th. I hope. Round here rain that time of year is non existent. Snow will get youre attention.
