Some folks just don't care.....

Post by fortyshooter » Tue Nov 10, 2020 11:43 am

A house down the block and one we walk by on our daily walks had busted glass bottle remains scattered along the street mainly in front of their driveway and they had to see and run over it coming and going, It was also into the middle of the street so when walking by there you had to go to the other side of street to avoid the mess especially when walking the dog.
After dealing with this mess for 3 days I had enough and on the way to the store stopped and took my broom and swept it out the way into the gutter.

I just don't understand a homeowner, although he is new been there about a year, that would see the hazard...drive thru it everyday and never take a minute to sweep it up? Kids and he has some play around there too!

Yep, some people just don’t care. There’s always one in every neighborhood I have lived in. Good for you to take care of your neighbor’s laziness.

See it all the time here Forty. Ride the bike trail and there are signs every where and even bags provided for picking up after your dog. On one section of the trail its quite frequent to see someone hasnt done that. This along with broken bottles on sidewalks and bike trails. I remember when I got my bike I rode it locally here and got a flat first time out with it from a broken Corona bottle that I didnt see until it was to late. It cut right thru the brand new tire. Needless to say I had a few choice words.

And some are just mean and petty. I've run into them every place I've ever been, and I've been to a lot of places.

I've got a couple of neighbors that fit that description. Pain in the butt, but world's full of 'em.

...but some folks do; like you ...and that lady in my town who walks for miles seemingly everyday and seemingly all day long. I've seen her in every part of town at different times of the day, just briskly walking along -- until she stops to pick up roadside litter (tossed from a car by someone who doesn't care) that she carries away in the plastic bag that she always has with her.

If we didn’t have enough problems with Corona now.

We have the same issue. Our road is gravel and is considered a private road, with just 7 homes. So it's up to the home owners to maintain the road. The only ones that every do any maintenance on it are my wife and I and our neighbor across from us. We can be out filling in the pot holes and the other neighbors just drive by and wave. When some slob throws out their fast food thrash at the end of our road, It will sit their unless my wife or I clean it up. Why can't people have a little pride in their neighborhood?

There will always be people like those you describe forty.

I am glad there are still a few like you who still set the example.

Then you have the other side of the coin.
Our "neighbor" on one side is a fifty-nine acre hay field. We had been here about three months when the owner came out to begin loading the round bales he had cut earlier in the week.

While chatting over the fence with Miss T, he told her he appreciated the pride we obviously took in the home and property, and he had noticed we had weedeated the fenceline. If she wanted... She could drive into the field and cut a pass with the mower inside the fence. Easier than weedeating.
You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.

I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.

Tells you something about their parents and what was lacking in their up-bringing.
