When i started reloading, i didn't know how much force was required to detonate a primer.

i was afraid, so i tested with a big hammer, in the workshop on a iron surface, the hands and the face protected...

you really have to force to detonate a primer !
with a sharp object, it's easier ...
to handle them by hand, it is enough not to have dirty hands, no grease or water ...

Even a reverse primer can be removed easily by gently pressing down on the press.

For now I only used CCIs, but considering the price, I will test the Winchester, much cheaper here ...
An old reloader guy, here, use them since 10 years, without any problem ...
but in my memories, it was federal primer that lee worry

Ive used many different kinds of primers. CCI will not feed reliably through my Dillon press. Dillon themselves recommends Winchester and Remington. I do still use CCI but only in the single stage press. Winchesters work great.

I am shooting Triple 7 in my BP rifle. Cleans up ok by the looks of it so far. Reluctant to shoot the Pyrodex RS I bought due to much reading and comments on other forums about it being more corrosive. I was curious about loading up some 45 Colt wit it to shoot in the High Wall as it is very easy to clean from the muzzle or breech, just basically a pipe. No powder fouling in the action, or anywhere I can't easily get at.
Anyone done this? Loads? Comments? If this is a viable option I will load a few up.

Will be doing MUCH homework on this before anything goes in my rifle. Thks

Never used any Pyrodex. But I have black in Shilohs, Leverguns, and pistols. You shouldnt need a wad but make sure you fill the case enough so the powder is touching the base of the bullet when seated if you use black. Im not sure about Pyrodex without research.

I have Lee manual, along with several others. Seems Lee's main objective is to promote Lee equipment. I've learned to take Lee's
advice on reloading with a grain of salt.
Primers, I've reloaded since 1967, always used a single stage press, handled each primer by hand. Wash my hands with soap & water, to remove any oils, etc. Never had a primer issue.
Have to admit. I've put them in upside down, sideways, no detonation.
Don't believe everything read on the 'net. Lot of self appointed experts out there.

I rarely ever buy a rifle, but when I do, it's a Henry.

Sounds like the same is true with Pyro. Powder must be slightly compressed. Like I said, I won't be in a hurry if I do it at all. I see videos of guys shooting Pyro P in revolvers with about 30 gr by volume doing 830fps.
