Is The Long Ranger Out Yet?

Post by ditto1958 » Tue Jul 26, 2016 7:49 pm

Has anyone here received, or seen, a Henry Long Ranger yet? If not, when are they expected to be available?

SH has ordered one of these new rifles. He answered the same question asked by WS in mid-July in another thread:

I'm looking forward to seeing reviews and range reports. When the word 'long' is in the title I'm expecting at least 500 or 600 yards of accuracy. That said, a scope with a 44mm objective would look pretty crazy on a Henry!

At the right price, I'd love to have a .223 Henry. I already buy it in bulk as it is readily available and relatively inexpensive.

Hmmm... some Henry rifles are made in northern Wisconsin. Summer is over soon up there. :)

May be a while before we see them readily available. I'm finding it's still difficult to get an AW.

If you want one really badly, my local gun store had both calibers in stock the other day. Send me a private message and I can give you their name, number and address. They will ship to a local federal firearm dealer. I had someone looking for something last year on another forum, and they ended up doing a deal through them.

I would be interested to see how the Long Ranger compares with a classic bolt job in the same calibre, like the Rem 700 (at 100, 200, 300 yds).

Thank you however I'd like to find one locally and save the transfer fees and headaches. I'm sure one will pop up eventually!

I understand, just thought I would throw that out there in case you were jonesing bad enough to go through the hassles.

The 30-30 was $929. The 45-70 was a little less but not under $900.

Interesting to see the 30-30 priced higher (not much higher, but still). Anywhere I've seen them available online they are line-priced.

I'm watching stock at Tombstone Tactical (have heard good things about them, haven't purchased from them yet). They are listed at $755 with free shipping. Even if I need to spend $50 on a transfer I'm still around $800 before taxes and DROS (CA's $25 background check/shakedown fee).

I commented to the guy at the store about it being odd that the 30-30 was higher. He said that the 30-30 was more popular for hunting. If we lived in a different area that larger game, I would think things would be different.

This thread is getting off track, but I really wish Henry would make a 35 Remington.

.35 Remington? Why not just go with a .358 W. and be done with it?

Cabela's has them for sale in their most recent mailing. Priced at $899.99 net of $50.00 off.
