No elk this morning

Post by Oldbrass » Mon Oct 05, 2020 2:49 pm

East slope Willapa hills in WA state. It's early muzzle loader. Watched the sun rise from a thicket over looking clear cut. No elk but no place I'd rather be. I'll be camped here all week

There's elk scat a few days old, been calling all day with the hoochie momma no replies. It's been quite warm this year and the moon was bright. These elk don't pattern you just gotta stay in the woods. I absolutely love it out here

My sister has a herd of them camped at her house in Covington. They keep eating her garden down.

CVA Optima V2 Northwest edition, 209 primers and sealed ignition have since become legal but I like this one . did a range report on it a few days ago.

Hunts over, didn't see a single elk. Didn't see any married elk either but I had a great time, didn't hear any shots. Talked to a few other hunters they got skunked to. Next weekend deer season opens for modern rifle so it's 30-30 time 😁

Probably went to the private ground where they charge 5K a piece for them like they do in Colorado
