Colion Noir - Silencers, Home Defense, Riots & Road Rage w/ John Lovell
This is a really outstanding pod cast, that I recommend watching and sharing with your friends and family. Almost an hour, but worth it, imho.

I watched this about a week ago and didn’t have a comment at the time. The part about driving and being chased wasn’t needed but the rest was good information.
Another thread about me watching a deputy practice made me think about this tread because he practiced all wrong. I have no training so someone correct me if I’m wrong.
The deputy was to far from the target and he started out like he was Matt Dillion on Gunsmoke. I would say he was about seven yards from the target and in a dueling stance. Then he would draw as quick as he could and aim and shoot three rounds. Then he would reholster his weapon and do it again and again.
To me he didn’t have to be so accurate and his tight groups didn’t impress me. They were good but not that good in relationship to his speed. And like I said he was much to far from the target.
I’ve watched police train before and a lot of the training was with a plastic blue prop. The training was more of pushing the attacking person back so the LEO wasn’t shot with his own weapon. The objective was to distance himself more than about shooting. Of course watching a few hours of training certainly doesn’t make me an expert.
Yes I’ve also watched them do SWAT type but not as much as wrestling someone with a firearm. To me he was practicing something that most likely will never happen and got no real world experience.
Just my untrained opinion.

To add to my previous post. The LEO was Washington State Park officers and they were not practicing knocking on a door in response to a domestic violence call, they were not pulling someone over for a burnt out tail light. They were practicing walking up to a campfire at night with six drunk guys that were to loud and cussing.

I remember some years, back, when the study came out that many gun shootings with LEO's occurred at 3 yards or less. Not long, afterwards, I visited with some local officers who were using our range for training and they told me they were now adding close up shooting drills to their training as a result. They were drawing their Glocks, but not fully extending their arms. Instead, they were using their arms and body to prevent a would be attacker from grabbing their gun. Matt Dillion and Gunsmoke it was not.

The practice I saw was more wrestling than shooting. So much so they could not use real firearms. These guys were literally throwing each other on the ground. They were Park Rangers dealing with some drunk pissing in public. A lot of the training was defusing the situation. Hours of that training and 30 minutes actually shooting.North Country Gal wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2020 11:11 amI remember some years, back, when the study came out that many gun shootings with LEO's occurred at 3 yards or less. They were told to practice shooting on their own time and only had to show they had basic command of a firearm.
One of the Park Rangers would always handcuff me in an instant. He knew I would allow it and he needed the practice. He was really good at it and did it when I was least expecting it.
