So today I took a flat piece of steel, and ignited to little piles of BP substitutes. Triple 7 and Pyrodex. They sure make lots of smoke, but that's not the point of the exercise. Let the steel sit for a little while and then cleaned both with a Hoppes #9 soaked patch. Then dried with a clean patch.
It seemed to clean both completely. I have read that a few guys use it and have good results. Not many. most use soap and water. I am no metallurgist so I don't know what kind of steel it was, but it looked like just regular grey steel. No idea what gun barrels are made of but the Hoppes sure cleaned it up just fine. Some have said that rubbing alcohol after the Hoppes dries everything out and never any rust worries because no water used at all.
I suppose I will post this on the other forum I belong to and wait for the dozens of pro/con opinions too.

Now I'm no BP expert but have read that the sulphr in real black powder is what causes the corrosion after it's burned. So a solution is needed to neutralize the sulphr oxide or acidic compound. Closest thing to black powder I use is the Alliant Black MZ which I clean up with Ballistol/water mix.
I use Ballistol for all cleaning all my guns and it seems to work well.

My understanding is that Pyro has sulphur and Triple 7 does not. Lots of guys say T7 is very easy to clean, and way less corrosive.

Hot soap and water since 1980. Let dry next to the woodstove. Run a patch or 2 through it for a couple of days, then a light coating of oil. It's a 3 day process.
Prior to shooting run a dry patch down the barrel. I usually snap off a few caps to ensure the breech area is dry. Then load and shoot.

Let me know how you like that 777 powder. Down here where I buy my powder the price of it is the same as black. I also use soap and hot water then blow out with compressed air. I use alcohol at the range and at home to dry out the barrel. I use it at the range to clean out when I feel I need to clean before shooting again. After cleaning I use Eezox to treat the bore. Amsoil gun oil is good also. Ballistol works to if you can get by the smell.

I have read several places that 777 is not corrosive and easy to clean. I will try 60 grains.

Got an email from my Pedersoli dealer that my Frontier .50 is on track for delivery from Italy before Xmas...They are getting all their import/export stuff ready now.

I have seen a couple of videos of BP guys cleaning Triple 7 with a mix of Peroxide, Alcohol and Murphy's Oil Soap. They say it does a good job and no chance of rust. I dunno, the whole cleaning thing still has me perplexed. We'll see.

Na no sweat RR you will be fine just use the soap and hot water blow it dry then oil it with Ballistol or some non petroleum. Petrol oils and BP dont mix. Im sure you can get eexox or amsoil up there. Kroil works to used that in the Shiloh.

Here are a couple of patches. Found them about 30 or so feet out in front of my shooting position. Not sure what they are supposed to look like but they look like the did what they were supposed to do. I am shooting 50 gn of Triple 7, and it seems to shoot quite well.
