New member of the family

Just picked this up yesterday, K6s Target model with a 4” barrel. Action is real smooth and it sure looks pretty. Anybody else have the k6s and what are your thoughts? Looking forward to taking it to the range as soon as I find bullets somewhere to work up some loads

Forty that’s a nice looking revolver! I almost went s&w, but I thought with the kimbers slimmer profile it would be a little comfier to carry. Would be neat to see how it compares to all the other .357’s, I’ll have some range reports up if I can score some ammo here before the snow starts falling

Thanks mark! Been a busy summer but figured I ought to get back on here finally. And yessir archery opens this coming Thursday and I’m ready to go, got a new bow a few months back so it took a bit to get dialed in to where I want it, but I’m feeling good about this season.

Have had two, since they came out. For those who prefer a revolver, I highly recommend the K6s.

First was the original K6s with the short barrel, DA, only. Did a complete strip when I first got it and the finish, inside, was every bit as good as the outside. It put Ruger and new productions Smiths to shame. The DAO trigger was excellent and those large 1911 style sights a HUGE improvement over a Smith J frame. Accuracy was top notch. The small grip made shooting 357s less than fun, though, same as a comparable steel J frame 357.



Traded it for the SA/DA 3" model when it came out. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss as far as quality and accuracy. This was to be my woods carry gun and I did carry it a couple of times when the neighbors reported bear activity in the neighborhood. The larger grip and slightly longer grip made it more pleasant to shoot, but it was still a small 357 mag, mind you.


I finally tried it off, excellent as it was, because if I'm going to carry, I prefer a small semi-auto in a more manageable chambering, thus my 1911 Kimber Aegis Elite 45 auto. I'm not about to claim the 45 auto is a 357, but we're talking black bears, not grizzlies and there are plenty of cases where the 45 auto did the job. I can mange the 45 auto, better, especially on follow up shots, which I regard as a too often neglected feature when discussions turn to self-defense calibers. Also, the Kimber compact 1911 is, like the Kimber revolver, excellent as regards quality and reliability (both 100% right out of the box), plus the compact 1911 is more compact and shorter, even at the same weight. Lastly, I know and love a good 1911 and this is a good one. As always, though, each to their own on choosing this class of gun.

Your knowledge is much appreciated NCG! The main reason I chose the 4” target model was because of the longer grips with finger grooves, although they don’t always fit everyone, they fit me nicely. Those should make the .357’s feel a little bit more tame. I handled quite a few of kimbers semi autos, and they feel excellent. My only issue was being a lefty they were very hard to operate efficiently as I like, which led me to the revolver. Well, that and my inability to put down a shiny new wheel gun once I pick it up
