Our Morning Coffee and Weather

No Rain here although we could sure use some. 35 this am in Creede where we are camped. Headed to 73.

Wish I had a hickory tree since I could trim a limb off now and then for chipping up for my smoker!

I have quite a bit of Hickory in my woods. A couple of years ago I was in my storage barn when lightening struck three time in succession.
Scared the heck out of me as it was really close. Lightening does strike in the same place more than once.
Anyway, it took out my biggest Hickory cutting it right in half. The tree was about 14 inches in diameter and produced a lot of nuts.
Now I have a lot of wood for my smoker.
It also took out two very large oaks not fifty yards apart. The Hickory and I were in between.

Another grand cup going in the ol gullet. Simple things for simple minds perhaps, but it starts me off happy... and happy is a good place to start from......

yesterday's steady rain in central in NC has moved on, very low chance of more rain today .... 64 on its way to 78 .... our high point of today will be taking lunch to long time friends who have health issues that force them in this time of COVID to pretty much stay at home .... we try to do so at least once a month when we are home .... an always good but pretty standard breakfast of eggs, sausage, sliced tomato and Folgers has come and gone

A rainy morning to start with and no plans today. Looks like rain on and off most of next week which means a soggy range area for a while.

Finally getting some cooler weather here. 66° this morning with highs in the low 80's. Not much planned for the day. I'll make it up as I go.

Another nice day but a front coming in tonight and tomorrow that will cool us down considerably.
Galveston Bay Seafood Truck in town today. Going to see what they have this week.
Hoping for oysters and crab.

Even though it’s raining I’m able to make coffee outside and stay dry. My new roof design does not leak!

I’m not sure how much longer I’ll be able to use the outside kitchen. At some point very soon I’ll close it for the winter.

I asked Sir Henry to share his rainy forecast with us here on the east side and he really came thru!! We had a really great substantial rain last night including a pretty impressive thunder and lightning storm. Not very typical for late September here. Planning on cutting up some trees I took down earlier when it was too dry to run a saw much. Then I have some more mowing to do that I have been waiting for wet conditions to do. Clear and 40 right now, feeling like fall finally.

No rain and 75º today, going to have a sale next Saturday with all the extraneous tools to clear out my shop enough to get work done. Welders, compressors, bandsaws, generators, etc. Don't expect to make much but need the room so today I am hauling stuff out to the sheds to keep buyers out of my workshop. No sense in advertising what is out there.

38 right now. My area had a freeze warning last night but I don’t think here at my place we will get there. Still over an hour until daybreak but I doubt the temp will drop more than a degree or two. Supposed to be 65 and sunny today, I have a 9:00 tee time with my son but we’re playing out in the Spokane Valley where it will be several degrees warmer than here at home. (At least that’s what I’m hoping for )

At least there will be not frost delays for the greens.

62 on its way to 77 later today .... its supposed to be dry until about midnight when scattered showers may roll through .... two weeks from today we are scheduled to be back on the road headed for Chesapeake .... sausage, eggs and Folgers, enjoyed them during the short time they were on the table ..

59° on the mountain and no rain in the forecast. 2 cups of coffee already, and breakfast is over. Have to make a trip into town for supplies. It's been a couple of weeks since our last trip. I'd like to shoot some today, but I feel like I'm shooting solid Gold bullets, due to the cost and availability of ammo. I don't mind shooting the big bored, because I usually don't shoot more tham 20 rounds of those, but when I'm shooting my semi autos, I tend to shoot at least 60 rounds. I've got the ammo, but I'm preserving it, until component, and loaded ammo becomes more available. If Nov 3rd goes my way, I'll probably resume my range activities. Cheers

A cool 52 as a high today, right now it’s 43 and sunny. Mass on TV, making pulled pork.

A cloudy one today and the highlite will be going over to my son's house for granddaughter's 11th birthday this afternoon.
