We've had some local fires lately, it has been crispy dry. Grass fires and wind are a bad combination.

50's here this am and supposed to hit 90 today. I see they are changing the weather forecast for tomorrow. I dont think the snow is going to happen at all.

up and about a bit early this morning, a medical appointment on tap to kickoff the day .... 63 degrees with 100% humidity this morning in central NC .... 60% chance of thunderstorms rolling through this afternoon .... breakfast will come along sooner or later

53° on the mountain. 1st of dark roast in the Gadsen glag mug. I'm moving slow this morning, due to bucking up a 70 ft Locust tree that fell behind our house two days ago almost hitting it. Now I have to tackle the 8 ft sections I cut. Locust is extremely dense and very heavy. Had to sharpen my chain 2 times yesterday. Anyway I'm worn out. This will be a day of rest.

My thermometer shows 42 but the official temp for Deer Park which is measured at the airstrip three miles west is 32. Brrrrrr. Leaving today for Montana and South Dakota where it’s even colder. But, it’s supposed to warm up and should be fine for our trip.

Up early with lots to do prior to departure and the Folgers is mighty fine this morning.

53° on the mountain. 1st of dark roast in the Gadsen glag mug. I'm moving slow this morning, due to bucking up a 70 ft Locust tree that fell behind our house two days ago almost hitting it. Now I have to tackle the 8 ft sections I cut. Locust is extremely dense and very heavy. Had to sharpen my chain 2 times yesterday. Anyway I'm worn out. This will be a day of rest.

Ironically, we arrived back home from the cabin yesterday for the removal of a large locust tree today.
Had to come back briefly anyway. Took a bad fall late last Thursday nite. Have been in severe pain.
Spent yesterday afternoon in the hospital. Result...rib #'s 7,8 and 9 are broken. Cannot even begin to describe the pain.
Waiting to get scrips, as it was too late after we left the hospital being Labor Day holiday...go figure.
Anyway...the weather looks to be nice today. Rain free and about 82.

Spent yesterday afternoon in the hospital. Result...rib #'s 7,8 and 9 are broken. Cannot even begin to describe the pain.

Darn Mark, does your wife have any bubble wrap? I feel for you and hope you heal quickly.

I can relate, have had broken ribs, seems like a person can barely even wiggle. I wish you a speedy recovery and stay healthy.

Accumulations of 6 inches (15.2 centimeters) to 12 inches (30.4 centimeters) were forecast for higher elevations in the Black Hills.

Course that area around The Black Hills is warmed by that Chinook Wind coming over the mountain and the snow won't last long. I've watched that area
weather for a long time as a possible retirement location.
I've been all over South Dakota over the years. In my younger days I drove a large cattle semi hauling feeder calves off ranches to feed lots in Minnesota.

Good luck Mark. I feel your pain as several years back, I got bucked off 13 miles from the trailhead and busted a couple too. I let it go until I got up to go to work and found I couldn't even walk upright without severe pain and ended up in the hospital instead of going to work. Praying you get fast recovery.

Sorry to hear Mark. I know you're pain as well. I got rear-ended riding my Vulcan 1600 early one morning about 15 years ago. Wound up with five broken ribs and a very messed up ankle. I had to sleep upright as the pain of laying down was excruciating. I lived on Vicodin for about six weeks. Hope you get to feeling better soon!
We've had a very wet Labor Day and morning this morning. The rain is welcome as it was getting dry. Had a bowl of cereal, toast and coffee. Now to get to work.
