Current handgun availability.....

Post by fortyshooter » Thu Aug 13, 2020 10:14 am

If you don't have one by now looks like skimpy choices.! Was looking at Buds and even most all the used guns are for sale "In Store Only".

Looked at my local shop and on his online shopping and anything worth having in Semiauto...Out of Stock.

Ammo is nothing hardly. Going to be a good while before things ever catch up given today's current conditions.

Had thoughts of trading my Glock 23 4th edition in for a Springfield XDE .45 ACP to match the one I have...thoughts of carrying a pair!

Just stopped my my local shop and all the gun counter show cases were empty other than 3 high end 1911 pistols and a couple revolvers.
Have never seen anything like that before and one of the sales guys just shaking his head. They did have some rifles though.
If you have a semi-auto pistol you want to sell now would be the time to make some money!

I still say it's a local problem, which I haven't seen here. Handguns in Gary's in Columbus MS fills the cases (plural) packed as close together as they can get them, some are 2 deep, and there's more in the back room. Just about anything you want, they got. I'm talking a 30' long double shelf counter. That's 60 Feet x 30" of handguns! Ammo is plentiful, including 9mm range ammo and defensive ammo. Prices are reasonable. I was there this morning. :)

I haven't even made it to our LGS in 6 months. You have to wait in line to get in. I did look at Walmart up the road the other day and the ammo was all gone. None at all, Zero. I was thinking ahead a little though and have a good stock of ammo that I found on sale at the end of last year.

I checked with my lgs, he still has primers. He did say it was getting more difficult to find supplies. It’s good to be in the boonies.

Decided this is the time to thin the herd. My LGS is looking for things to sell and told me it is a sellers market. Will be taking some guns and ammo down Saturday AM.

As far as the big boxes go - Cabela's and Academy are pretty slim on guns and ammo. Only thing in the cases is high end revolvers and some Kimber 1911's. Nothing in the moderate to budget end guns at all. I suspect that once this BLM/Antifa terrorist insanity wears off (if it ever does) then things will relax and some pawn shops will be filled with great buys. If the insanity does not wear off then folks may be forced to put those newly purchased guns to good use.

My local small town shop has a great inventory of hand and long guns. I haven’t looked for any particular model other than a Henry H009 30-30 so I can’t comment on specifics but there’s 100+ new and used handguns and the same for long guns. And that’s only what’s on display, they have the new in the box inventory in the “back” with only one of each on display. They do have the Henry I looked for which is great as I see Buds and other online sellers are out of stock. It’s not in the budget just now but will be soon.

Did pretty good with the guns I took to sell at the LGS last Saturday so I took some more today. I tell them what I want and they mark it up a bit. Also sold some ammo that I no longer need. Works out for both of us.

I stopped by a local Academy store Thursday and they had one LCP .380 auto, four Heritage .22's and 2 Ruger Wrangler .22's. That's all the handguns they had. There were plenty of long guns but hardly any ammo.

I may take my Glock 23 Gen. 4 by our "empty" LGS and see what I can get for it. Haven't shot it in a long time and don't plan on loading for .40 cal.
Things really bleak with handguns around here and the sound of crickets over at Bud's for anything other than a SA revolver.

Agreed forty. Most handguns are gone, back ordered. Where I bought my Pietta .45, EMF Co, they still have a lot of SA's. Even that is a bit surprising.

Seems to vary quite a bit. Kind of in the middle here. I was at Coastal's gun/ammo dept. yesterday, no 9mm, no 223/556 ammo. Handgun display cases were about 3/4 full. Pretty good selection of misc. rifles/shotguns but only 1 AR. Picked up a couple of boxes of 00 buckshot for my Shockwave.

Haven't been at the other LGS's lately so don't know what they have. I'm not in the market for any new guns right now and have an adequate stockpile of ammo since I haven't been shooting much lately. Was kind of looking for a S&W Shield EZ for a friend, Coastal had 2 .380's but said they have had a 9mm model (which is what she wants) on back order for awhile now.
