New BigBoy & Need Some Load Data Please
New BigBoy & Need Some Load Data Please
Just got my new BigBoy rifle and would appreciate some help. I am already in pocession of 2 boxes of 500 hard cast coated lead bullets in 210 grain RN that I purchased from a friend several months ago. I feel the RN would feed pretty good in the lever action and the rifle will used just as a rifle that should be fun to shoot. Anyone have a favorite load in this bullet weight that they would like to share? Thanks

Come on Now Big Al . . . .
Everyone knows that 45 Colt and .357 Mag in the Big Boy is the best, and the 45-70 will rock your world !

Re: New BigBoy & Need Some Load Data Please
So sorry, BUT this BigBoy is a 44 mag. I have had several 41 mags from S&W and Ruger during my lifetime and was tempted on that cal. when I first started looking at the Henry. My local dealer had a 44 mag in stock and I had a 1,000 bullets in .430 dia. so I went with what was available. I really am a fan of both the 41 and 44 mag.
Re: New BigBoy & Need Some Load Data Please
10 grains of Unique will get you close and do all you need with a 44. But theres no way a 44 or a 45 Colt will out class a 41. JMHO

RnG 357 is a great second choice to a 41 and 45 Colt is just a Cowboy wanna be round. The 45-70 is just a warm up round to a real rocker in the 45-100

Well stated my friend ! Chevy's, Fords, and Dodges ! Bottom line, you don's see any Prius's here ! ! !
Remember, its not the size or speed of draw that counts, its who can put the round on the target accurately !

Somehow I doubt that. All the deer knew is they were standing there and . . . . . .

Re: New BigBoy & Need Some Load Data Please
Hello Panhandle and welcome to the Forum. I've owned my .44 MAG BBB for 6 years, and although it has been a struggle, I finally have it shooting 2"-3" groups at 75 yds. My most accurate hand load to date is Winchester brass, Winchester large pistol primer, loaded with 16.5 grs. of Accurate #9 powder, and topped off with a 250 gr. Bear Tooth hard cast, gas capped, .432" diameter bullet. I would recommend Henry's .44 Mag rifle to any serious shooter with one caveat.... the factory installed Marble buckhorn sighting system will not deliver reasonable accuracy. After several years of various loads, I gave up on the Marble system and installed a Skinner Express peep sight as well as Skinner front post. I am now comfortable with the elevation and windage adjustments on the Skinner rear sight, although drifting the rear sight for windage is a tedious operation. I suppose a scope would been even a better solution to the factory sight, but I did not want to detract from the image of this handy, lever action carbine.
