One Year Ago Today

Today is a special day for me!
It was July 30th last year that I quit smoking over two packs of cigarettes a day. I had a LOT of help from compassionate members right hear. I attribute much of my success to that. Did not slip up a single time.
I want to thank everyone for all the support, I will never go back!!!!
Might have to visit ' The Adult Evening Beverage ' thread tomorrow night and celebrate this accomplishment and BigAl's RETIREMENT!! YAAAY.

Thank you Larry. You're right; aint no picnic, but have it licked!! Will never go back.
I figure I have saved $ 3600.00 give or take over the last year. I did reward myself some time back with a new Ruger Single 10. I hope more gifts to myself are in the near future!

Congrats Mark it is a hard addiction to break. I just did the mental math and realized it was 28 years ago that I stubbed out my last smoke. Got on the airplane home from my last deployment and never picked up another one. Wanted one from time to time the first year especially when I cracked open a beer or ran into some old running mates for a drink or three. Better health and the fact that I haven’t smelled like an ashtray for the past 28 years is worth it. Trust me you smell better than you did a year ago.

It is a great thing not smelling like an ash tray anymore. Now, if I'm around anyone who smokes, it's embarrassing to think how bad I smelled for so many years....yuk!

I quit smoking a pipe cold turkey years ago after watching a good friend and mentor die of lung cancer. I've been about 30 years smoke free now. Congrats on your accomplishment.
