Range Report: .22LR Walther Pistols

I decided my feet needed a break from walking so I chose pistols. Here I’m set out at about 15 yards between two other shooters.

The pistols are a Walter PPK, Manuhurin PP and a Walter P22 which is still cased.

The PPK will hold the PP mags but the PP will not hold the PPK mags.

The PPK really needs the finger rest. Even the PPK finger rest mag is too short (see pictures with both).

Even the PP is best with the finger rest. Notice how there is no space like on the PPK.

It’s easier to holster the pistol with the flat plate.

I shot without using the red dot. This is a fun pistol. I have the same pistol in 380ACP.

I shot a lot of different rounds.

I aimed the first shot and then shot as fast as I could.

Ah yes, the after range treat. I believe you have your routine down.
I looked at Walther pistols for years but could never get myself to spend the money.

Great looking guns, I recently took my ppks in 380 out for a play date to the range. Great shooter. I also have the same vintage holster for it. It came with the Walther cleaning rod as well. I have carried the pistol but not in that holster it works great in an inside waistband I have.
Tell me about the PP that you have in 380. I am looking for a good conceal carry for my wife that isn’t too heavy and is easy to shoot and operate. She doesn’t have much hand strength.

I have a PPK/s in 380 and don’t recommend it at all. It bites your thumb bad for such a low powered caliber.

The PP380 is everything the PPK/s isn’t. It is light weight yet has very little kick. The slide is very easy to work.

I have a solid collection of semi-auto centerfire pistols. Or where you talking about the ice cream.

Nice pistols. Always wanted a Walther, but always seemed to find something I wanted more. Go figure. A few hundred rounds of .22 and a good pistol is about as much fun as a person can have with a firearm. I know it sounds silly, but marshmallows make good targets for .22 pistols. Hang 'em from a string, toss them in the creek, whatever - vs. .22's they're almost indestructible and you don't have to clean up the mess. And they're cheap. Later on, you can make smores with the left-overs. Not as good as Walthers and Ice Cream, but fun and tasty none the less.
