Found some primers this morning!

Post by fortyshooter » Tue Jul 07, 2020 10:25 am

Noticed yesterday on my powder trip to the LGS he only had a couple boxes of Winchester Magnum SP and CCI LP Magnum all else other than rifle/shotgun is gone. Looking on line isn't much better. So I went back this morning and got 1 box 1000 of each.
They will work fine for standard load powder as long as not near max load.

Wonder when the primer production will catch up?

Good question. I just broke down and left the farm to go to my local Fins,Feather , yesterday, and Furs store to get primers. I needed some LP and luckily they had some along with some LP mag primers. The shelf was almost bare though so I imagine they are being grabbed up as soon as they go out onto the shelf. Before this virus thing spread across our country, those same shelves were packed full of all and every kind of primer imaginable.

This thread came at the perfect time for me. While in the shop looking for my horse shoe's and stakes, I found a coffee can with 15x100 Ct CCI mag spp's!! I don't even know when I bought them. They're in the older off white packets. They've been in the cabinet all this time. Late 70's, early 80's? Think they're still good? Kinda surprised myself with that one. What do you folks think?

I'll bet they are Tom.
One sure way to find out fer sho, though, load a couple and try 'em out. ;)
Sportsman warehouse shows they have 'em on sale at the moment.
Order online and have them shipped to near by store.
My closet one is about a 100 miles away.

Yep, going to load five rounds up. One primer from 5 different packs. So on and so on. If they work; BANANZA! If not, we'll.....

Did inventory this morn.
Not as many sp, sr's as Lr, or Lp.
But I'd take a few of each of there cheap enough. ;)

As long as they are kept dry they should be OK.

I never stored more than 1 brick per caliber, but have changed my way of thinking just for that reason, we can no longer count on supply and demand, its more like demand and wait for the supply.

TR, that is actually a cabinet with that logo.
Don't remember where I got it, someone was throwing it away.

Ok, I finally tried those older CCI mag spp I found. They work!! What with primers being almost non- existent, these will certainly work as forty mentioned. Was on another site this morning and brokers are auctioning primer at ridiculous prices.
Glad we have ours. Dang!

Congrats ! There ought to be a law against this auctioning BS in times of crisis.
